Yeah, I would think the red light would preserve your night vision. Should look pretty cool, also.

The same shit everyone else has.

    This basically.

Doing bright white LEDs or strips is a terrible idea. Its as bad as driving around with your dome/map lights on.

This is my set up -

    0D317383-CD5A-4CD9-AE7B-2F6B9EBE3CAD_zps_39f46095b2686328f1e317b5a18928789398394e.jpg

Excuse the awesome iPhone night shot. Notice the floor lighting isnt even as bright as the cluster/dash lights. Its ambient lighting and nothing more. Its not distracting. Its not bright. Its not obnoxious. The drive side seems really bright because its actually shining on the pedal covers, which are brushed aluminum.

To wire them into the lighting circuit, tie them into the green and green/white wiring going into any of the switches. I forgot which is positive and negative at the moment though

Love the look. I assume you "T'd" them off one of the switch wires coming off the fuse panel behind the dash? Do they come in "amber" strips and if so where did you pick yours up? Also, do they have a fuse in between the lights and fuse box?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks. The prewired Radioshack LEDs do not come in amber unfortunately, but like I said, the red matches really well. They arent a bright red.

I did the lighted 4wd switch and used the same illumination source the switch uses. There is no fuse in the harness.

    Just a few LEDs...
I have found some very good quality LED strips made by "Alpena" at Autozone. They come in many colors including red and amber. If you do not have any Autozones in your area, you can also find these same strips on Ebay or Amazon. The Alpena "Max" LED strips use 5050 LEDs and are quite a bit brighter than the "regular" strips they sell.

If you want something more orange, PepBoys has some strips under a different brand that are true orange not amber.

The pictures aren't the best but they give a general idea of how the red looks.

I used one 4 inch red LED strip that I cut in half for the cup holders. I have a 12 inch LED strip under the dashboard on each side.

I also put a 4 inch strip in the pockets on each of the front doors. I'll be doing the back doors and the floor in the back in the near future.

I don't have a good picture of it but I also have a very bright red LED in each of the map lights.

I did amber in the center console and cup holders. Next week, I'm doing all the door pockets.

Can you post a pic of where you mounted the strip under the dash please?

I got the brightest superbrightleds.com had. I would not run mine on all the time. No way to see, my buddy has them stock in his mustang and I can barely see my shoes.

Thank you. They only come on when the lights are on correct. Sorry for the stupid question.

Correct. They also dim with lights as well. It's not a stupid question. I had to ask myself.

Solid green is the hot wire. Black wire was connected to green w/white stripe wire, red to green wire. I used posi-taps. These are the lights I used:
