i keep experiencing problems with the driver side speakers. the passenger side always works but the driver side goes mute or the volume diminishes to the point that it was making me think my right ear was failing. had a friend ride with me and he confirmed the same thing.

    anyone have similar trouble?

i have an off-road manual transmission with tech pkg.

Sorry to hear about your ear problems now that your friend has confirmed! ... JK

Go into the nav stereo settings and only have the driver's side turned on ... that will troubleshoot if it is intermittent ... also test when parked and driving .... could maybe be a loose connection or just a ground wire. Also try different media ...radio...bluetooth ... cd etc. I have the TRD OR auto and mine works perfectly.

In addition to what Slade asked, what volume setting does this happen? If you turn it up do the speakers engage properly during a particular volume setting?

it happened at various volume levels - i.e. it happened at high volume and when i lowered the volume so i could speak to my friend.

i work around loud machines all day so i thought it was just my hearing but my friend riding passenger is my girls younger brother that is in high school. i highly doubt he has bad hearing.

I have bad hearing and I'm 23 and it sounds great to me :D needless to say take it to the dealer show them your problem and they will hold your truck for a week cuz they are idiots trying to figure it out or take it to a stereo shop have them diagnose it and cost you 50 bux to find your problem or just upgrade the terrible excuse for a system toyota calls factory don't wanna sound like a dick but those are your options unless you know anything about stereo and want to tear your truck apart to figure it out
