I know there are other threads on this subject but I would like to know what the people of Michigan have done or plan to do about rust proofing for the salt roads this winter.

Driving my 2004 TJ..... I'm going to avoid salt in my truck as long as feasible... I'll be driving the Tacoma again once the TJ goes under the knife for a lift and tires once summer starts and I have some cash again.

So currently living in AA right now. Basically doing the same thing while I lived in NY&VT. Wire wheeled and scraped any rusty parts I can get to, primer, paint and undercoated everything. last weekend applied Fluid Film to everything I could see and get to that was metal. So far its holding up pretty good. There are a few spots that are a little rusty but nothing of what I've seen on other trucks. Took it to the dealer before I ran out on my 100k warranty to check if everything was ok and they said it was the cleanest looking Tacoma they've seen in a while

I usually hose everything I am worried about rust and corrosion on with fluid film. Just powerwash off and reapply when it starts looking really nasty. I used to spray things down with undercoat, but now I generally try to paint with glossy paints. Alot less sticks to them versus a flat color.

I had the whole underside of my truck sound and rust proofed by a local Grand Rapids company. (I can't remember the name off the top of my head)
This will be my first winter with the rust proofing, so i don't have any feedback to offer.
The coating almost looks like bed liner/ tar.
If anyone wants, I can take a few pictures to show what it looks like.

Fluid film a couple times a yr, once in the fall, once in the spring. Underbody wash often.

I have a California truck and it's been through two Michigan winters and I have zero rust underneath. I highly doubt that it has been treated with anything considering where I bought it. I just take it through a full service wash once a week after the first snow and it seems to keep the salt damage to a minimum. It costs me about $10 a week. Not bad in my opinion.

I got my truck sprayed by Krown. It's really big in Canada but the only place that does it in Michigan is in Monroe. It's similar to the Fluid Film a few people have mentioned, I just didn't want to do it myself. If they spray it every year and you do it on your new truck they offer a rust warranty as well. I picked this method also because I feel like if I did have a rust issue I might still be able to get Toyota to fix it because it washes off with a strong degreaser. I've been through the car wash at least twice a month for a whole year now and under my truck is still coated in the stuff so it doesn't wash off easy. This is the main website and the local one is here.

I sprayed my frame down with fluid film just before we got that big snow last weekend. I try to take it to the quarter car wash fairly frequently too so I can power wash everything off.

I also sprayed my frame with fluid film a few weeks ago (back when we had that random stretch of 70 degree weather). I'm looking forward to doing some snow runs though!

Anyone wheeling this weekend? Preferrably Friday or Saturday? Was thinking about heading to Rocks and Valleys, but I can't tell from the website if they will be open or not.

Per their Facebook page, they are open all December but you need to check in at Snowsnake.

And I wish I was wheeling this weekend :(

Are you looking to get muddy or more of an ORV / seasonal road trail ride?

Good time with Paul and his dad on the trails today. We put in a full day and just a little bit of night.
From Leota trail head to St.Helen scramble area and back down by the Mid Lodge / power lines across Houghton lake trails to Leota where we started.

I wish I would have been able to make that trip. I would love to do one with a little snow on the ground.
