Well I ordered new wheels for my Trd sport DC that is due in tge next cpl of weeks. I plan on a 3" toytec boss or ome if they come out with something for the 16's. I think I am going with cooper at3 in 285/70r17 after looking at 100's of wheels and almost deciding on tge 2crave nx-3. I decided on RBP 94r because I wanted 17" I wanted shiny black but also wanted some crome. These wheels have chrome inserts tgat can be removed if I decide I like all black better. I hope I like them. Lol

I dont understand how such gawdy and tacky wheels are embraced by the truck scene. Not to mention In every other category of vehicle, this wheel style is seen as garbage. For some reason though, macho truck guys everywhere prefer their wheels to have big stars in the center, bedazzled with chrome dots and sparkly things.

    To each his own though.

One thing that is NOT subjective however is the fact that you just bought 17" wheels that weigh 46 POUNDS!!!!!!!! That's absurd. The 17's I'm about to order from FN Wheels are 20 pounds. That's a savings of over 100 pounds of rotational weight between the two wheels. You will see a significant drop in acceleration and fuel efficiency with the wheels you purchased.

Sorry to poo on the parade. I'm all up for customization, and I certainly can't argue taste, but objectively I think you made a mistake with these wheels.

It's a tricky on forums to balance strong opinions with being sensitive to peoples feelings. I'm not always the best with it. I think the tension in this case will come from the fact that he's already purchased the wheels. If he was just asking for opinions on wheels he was THINKING about buying, I don't think my statement would be too hurtful.

He started a conversation thread on the internet about the wheels he just bought. Not real pictures, no questions. So without something to actually answer or address, I assume he's fishing for opinions. Not all opinions will be positive. And I think suppressing and punishing negative opinions leads to fake & meaningless communication.

I apologize ahead of time if I've offended anyone. Personally though I can't stand the overwhelming amount of flashy and supremely heavy truck wheels. I think they're counter-intuitive to both the style and performance of our vehicles. By all means though, if you disagree with my opinion, you're more than welcome to post your own opinion which should snowball into a interesting conversation.

Hahahahah well put my friend. It's plastidip, and I've since removed it. But the wheel design is simple, and the wheel weighs 16.5lbs.

I'm have a very strong opinion when it comes to wheel selection. Wheels essentially make or break the entire look of the vehicle. There are some that like over the top blinged out wheels with a tapestry of intricate cuts and there are those that like simplistic form and function. I'm in-between as I really favor a Baja/prerunner desert race look. SCS, Method, FN wheels and Walker Evans really cater to the look I'm going for. Fuel, ATX, KMC and a few others also have some really good choices of wheels. Of course any of the TRD spec wheels always look good.

It's all in what makes you happy driving your truck. It can definitely be a sensitive subject because let's face it, nobody wants to hear, "Bro, you have clown wheels on your $35k truck and it looks like shit". Though, if you're going to post them up, you have to expect criticism from both sides. As long as it's not mean spirited I see no harm in voicing your opinion.(BlueT is the exception ).

Pretty rims means its all show and no go(as in go 4 wheelin). Dinging those rims would make a grown man cry. Was going to do that on the jeep but all the rims I liked were way too expensive to do rub the crap out of on the trails so I stuck with the factory rims and Cooper 33's. Figured I would replace the trims when the time came and I had to.
