Yeah, no tax in there. I left tax off because tax can be so deceiving because tax varies by location and trade in value. Remember my price is for a manual which costs over 1500 less than the auto. Basically my dealer does 300 over true invoice which is awesome. However they charge the TDA fee of 714. So basically 1000 over invoice. Not bad, not great, but I am happy.

I live it SC. I traded my '01 Isuzu because it had over 230K miles and falling apart. I couldn't sell it to a person in that condition in good conscience, but to the stealership, it was ok. I'm sure they still got it for nothing.

I traded a 2015 Tacoma I owed 14000 on for a 2016 SR with convenience, tow, black aluminum rails, v6 auto 4x4 for 2400 bucks+ tax. 34119 -31719= 2400. I had paid 32000 out the door in January on the 2015. Went to get an oil change and they gave me what I felt like was a reasonable offer. Knoxville TN

Agreed, these things are expensive. I'm waiting for mine. I've always felt I was able to do a pretty good job at negotiating my previous vehicles but honestly the dealers have no incentive to negotiate on these 2016's right now. At the end of the deal I got a promise on a vehicle that I'm still waiting for. Here are the specs and details. I could do without the toyoguard, paint prot, phone & cable pack but that's what I'm in for.

7544 - 4x4 TRD OR DC Auto, paint prot, prem & tech, Tow, Tonneau, toyoguard elite, phone & cable pack.

    MSRP + all fees = 40,358
    + Tax = 43,183
    + Tags = ? Can't recall.

Offer 41,500 OTD. I suspect I'm saving 1,600+ overall, pathetic but I'm all in. I don't have a trade, coming off a lease. Plan on paying cash but if I can get < 1.5% ( with perfect credit ) I'll keep and invest my cash.

I'm in Jacksonville, FL. Here's the process I go through when shopping for vehicles:
    1. Check TrueCar/ConsumerReports/etc. price reports. In this case this wasn't as relevant because the truck is so new, so I went with the invoice pricing information that was posted here on TacomaWorld as a baseline.
    2. Google map all the dealerships I'm willing to drive to in order to buy the thing.
    3. Shoot an email out to those dealers with the exact configuration I want. Informing that I'm price comparing and ready to buy ASAP, and asking for their best OTD price.
    4. At this point it's just playing the game. Dealing with sales people can be just as, if not more frustrating, via email. You'll notice than many don't bother to answer questions or provide what you've asked for. I usually reply to let them know if they don't provide the OTD price for the config I'm looking for then they'll fall out of the running. You'll likely have to field phone calls during this process too (I love Google voice for things like this).
    5. Narrow down on price and service and then go buy!!

For me, I ended up at Gatorland Toyota in Gainesville, Fl.. Roughly a 1.5 hour drive from home. Worked out well since I have family near that area too. Not only did Gatorland have the best price, but the saleswoman (Kip) and sales manager I'm dealing with are awesome! She quickly replied and sorted out exactly what I wanted, without trying to redirect me to things that were easier for her to deal with/make $ on. She made clear that I would have to deposit/order, which was fine, and then sorted out the details of getting the JBL tech package when others were telling me it wasn't possible/couldn't be found in their system. I actually just got a call from her this morning letting me know the truck should arrive by the 30th (+/- a couple days).

Anyway, running through this process has saved me a lot of $ in the past and it worked well this time too. Well worth the time investment since it saved me almost $2k from what local dealers were offering!

Anyone negotiate on extended warranty? In the past I've gotten over 50% off initial price on other vehicles. Curious how others have faired. This will be my first Toyota.
