image.jpg image.jpg Got new springs put on today. What's the best add a leaf to put on now? I'm looking at ome but want more opinions, maybe just off-road when hunting. Nothing too serious.

Those look like the Dorman replacements based upon the numbers. Better have your can of WD40 and a screwdriver ready to lube those things up every two weeks or the clunking will drive you insane!

I wish I were lying. I have the same ones. First, about two weeks after installation, they squeaked like crazy! Sounded like I was driving a 65 year old tractor. Had to lube the friction pads that are in between each spring. All was great for a couple of weeks until the clunking started. Sounded like everything in the back was looooose. I thought I must have not torqued things down. Nope. All was tight. Liberally squirted all spring to spring contact points and the areas around the u-bolts and it went silent. For about two weeks. I'm due for another WD bath right now. This time I won't do it in my driveway and soak all my nice clean pavers in lubricant!

What's even worse is that these Dormans allow massive amounts of driveline windup (or axle wrap as they call it around these parts). The clunking when I let off the brakes at a stop makes your fillings fall out.

    Question and a comment .
Why would you put an add a leaf on new springs?

Instead of wd40 find some lp3. It goes in like wd but dries into a grease. Works great on hinges and tight spots.

I ran those same springs for almost a year with zero squeaks and no more axle wrap than the stockers using bigger tires. Half that time was with a skyjacker aal which pretty much eliminated that problem. I upgraded to full pack but really wasnt much of a difference besides a little better ride.

Whooo there big fella. I was asking because I thought the add a leafs were to restore old saggy leafs to a usable height.
We were all dumb high schoolers once. Those of us that tried and failed "learned" and are better for it. If you not trying, well then I guess you would be called a hipster, and no one wants that?!?! At least not a toyota guy.

    All good man.

thank goodness for that. dormans are pure garbage just like the oem stock springs are.

even though they were free you are better off tossing them and put on a set of general hd springs so they have the extra 400lbs built-in cargo capacity making the need for helper springs no longer required. sorry to hear you went to all the trouble of installing someone elses throw away springs, but the mere fact you know you still need to look for helper or AAL tells says you now know this is true.

they are not hugely expensive http://www.generalspringkc.com/product_p/90-203hd.htm

    I c
I can't afford new springs, these will just have to work. Planning on doing an AAL lift eventually, I have noticed that around 45-50 mph when I give it some gas the back axle acts like one side is a little behind, making the whole truck truck shake for a minute. Is this axle wrap? No way to fix it?
