    Nice!

Could you ask your brother what LEDs he used and where he got them?

Forget the foot well lighting, I'm interested the the cup holders. My Jeep Patriot had illuminated rings around the cup holders that made them way easier to find with a coffee mug in the dark.

And back in the day ash trays were illuminated and could light up the cup holders if left open and change free.

How have people been setting them into the cup holders in the tacos?

The way I did mine, for the very front, I drilled a hole on the angled face under the AC controls. I fed the cable through it all the way to the end of the light (which has 3m tape on it) and stuck it on the face. The center and rear cup holder I did a bit differently because I didn't want cups to hit the light so I drilled a hole and placed the lights on the backside and secured them with 3m tape. I'm doing my door cup holders the same way on Monday.

I have a 2 inch strip (half of a 4 inch strip) inside each of the front cup holders. The strips have adhesive tape and are somewhat waterproof so I don't have to worry about liquids spilling or condensation from cold drink cans/bottles. I went with strips because they are relatively flat and don't take up much room. I also didn't want to poke a big hole in the rubber cup holders to install a 5mm LED. To run the wires, I poked a tiny hole in the rubber and fished the wires through.

The strips have 3 LEDs in every 2 inch segment and provide more light than a single LED. Another advantage of having the LEDs inside the cup holders as opposed to lighting them from above is the light coming out of the cup holders also helps light up the lower portion of the dashboard under the AC controls.

Hey that's actually my truck... (I'm his brother) I got them at advanced auto parts, they're just led strips.

Here are a few places to buy LED lights. I've bought LED's from ebay and oznium.com and I never had any problems with them. You can buy them from your local auto parts store, Walmart, or Radio Shack. If you buy them online the color selection and size selection is alot better and they are usually alot cheaper (price wise). There are alot more places on line if you'll google search LED light strip. I hope this helps.

www.amazon.com (search LED light strip in automotive)

    http://www.oznium.com/

    https://www.superbrightleds.com/

www.ebay.com (search led light strip in ebay motors parts and accessories)

Thanks for the info. I have purchased LED bulbs and strips from several different places including VLEDs, Superbright LEDs, JDM Astar (Amazon) and the strips I got at Autozone were better than all of the others. Advance auto had some of the same strips but autozone had a better selection.

I bought a adjustable door pin switch from oznium.com that I used for my hood lights on another vehicle. It was nice not having to feel around for a switch to turn on.

The passenger side was easy. I just attached a strip to the bottom edge of the glove box door.

The Driver's side was a bit of a problem because there wasn't a good spot to mount the strip. I ended up taking a 3/4" x 1/8" aluminum strip and drilling a 1/4" hole to mount it to a spot that already had a hole under the driver's side dash. I then bent it to go around the air duct.

I currently have wires coming in from the parking light circuit which power up another "project" so I just tapped into those.

Some people have been tying into the dash illumination (not sure what wires at the moment)

I did discover that the empty fuse location at the top center has 12 volts on it when the parking lights are on though. I might end up using it eventually.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but it was the most relevant of all the ones I have searched for.

I'm looking for a similar ambient lighting, but like super dim barley noticeable. Most the the pics here are too bright. Do I just add a stronger resistor to the led or is there a certain led i should buy.

otherwise ill have to go with what @steveo27 bought. Just worried about the threaded body length getting in the way of the install.

EDIT: For those looking for a similar solution to Steveo27's, but dont want red. I found orange and green here.

The same shit everyone else has.
I actually like the red a lot the way I did it. The lighting is so dim its hard to tell if its red or amber. its WAY dimmer than what everyone else posted.

Do you think one led per foot well was enough? I was also thinking about adding one up top shooting down like how bmws have. Do you think it would be too bright or distracting?

Mine may look bright, but they are connected to the dimmable dash lights so they go really low. Barely noticeable at the lowest setting.
