Ya I agree could be a pain in the ass. I'm sure if you brought it in to an off road shop with a general idea of what you need they could pick the rest. Who knows what that will cost though.

Im not planning on taking it to a shop for install.. Also I don't know of any shops around here that could do that without draining my bank account. That cost would be more than just buying the kit new

Not sure why, but my original post disappeared haha. Anyway, thanks! And honestly, with the tent folded off the back, it's awesome since the whole side of the annex unzips so I can have access to the bed.. it was pretty cold out and windy one of the nights, so we had our camp stove set up on my tailgate under the annex and had easy access to all our stuff. And I guess the difference with our tents, is I would have to cut the bars to turn mine sideways... which I'm not ready to do yet.. but yea I get what your saying with how high up it sits. We are debating making a little 4wheeling trailer to mount it on, that way we can make a base camp and still take the truck out.

My husband has taught her basically to crawl up on to his shoulders and he carries her half way up the ladder till she can reach... she loves it!

Oh do you just have it clamped straight to the bars on the canopy? I would have to do the same as you but I put mine on Thule cross bars so that the metal bars on the tent don't scratch the canopy bars to much. But a trailer would be awesome! Wish I had the funding for that at the moment!

Haha that's awesome! The first night I slept in my tent in my living room, my German shepherd climbed in and loved it! He thought of it as a cave like he did under my dads desk in his office and our coffee table.. Only picture I have of him under there

Yea, we tried it on our Yakima bars, so it would go off to the side, but that was WAY too tall for my liking... I didn't realize yours wasn't on the camper bars... now I know why you said the height was bad! But so we went to the local hardware store and bought some longer bolts to reach around the bars on the shell.... my husband had an amazing idea, and cut up an old inner tube from a bicycle tire and wrapped the bars under the clamps before clamping them down, so we had no issues with it getting scratched.
But your pup is adorable!! We had opened ours up on the ground in our driveway when we first got it.... she automatically got in and tried to guard the door hah! That was her new fort. These are our two girlsdakota2.jpg lexi.jpg

Ohh got it, that makes sense! The Thule bars make it about 2.5" higher, but I still want mine to just above cab level.. I don't use the annex enough to justify keeping it that high.

Wow those are some good looking pups! My friend had a white shepherd like yours but mine was purebred straight from Germany. Definitely the best dog we've ever owned

Gotcha! Yea, I wouldn't mind mine lower, like you said, I've tagged a few trees with it. Glad the cover is pretty durable though.. I haven't gotten a chance to check out the Tepui's. That's actually what we were leaning toward until the CVT group buy happened. Have you had issues with condensation? What's the coldest temps you've stayed in it?
And thank you! We love em! But that's awesome that you got him from Germany! He's gorgeous!

I've been down to 0 degrees and didn't have a problem but I was by myself that time. I have the anti condensation mat and always keep the screen over the door but leave the solid flap rolled up so air can circulate. If I'm with someone else then I leave each window cracked or open if it's summer.

Thanks! We had nonstop compliments on him, which actually amazed me how many people would come up to me when I was on a run and ask if they can pet him.. Depending on the person who came up to me I'd say "he isn't very good with people he doesn't know.." And they slowly back away haha

    Ok I drew a picture.
THESE ARE NOT ACTUAL NUMBERS! This is just shit I'm throwing out there to show the concept that you can have better angles at the same lift height with a LT setup compared to a MT setup and a more equal down travel to up travel ratio.
    image.jpg
Another benefit to LT is a stronger Uniball LCA with the potential to run a bypass. Yes you can buy such LCAs for a mid travel setup but with that added cost you're so close to the price of LT I mean... What's the point?

It finally snowed in the mountains so thought I'd do a recon trip to see what it was like... And not much of it. Got up to about 4500-5000ft and only a few inches. Went with AWilson013 in his badass supercharged 3rd gen.

View from the top (thanks @TacoSTIG  )

After we got tired of the cold and 30mph winds we went down to the lake in the first picture.. To where it was just as windy but a bit warmer

We first tried Stampede pass but there wasn't much snow at the summit and other people had been up there before us.
