Look at #56. At the start of the year I peeked at there schedule...I figured they would of been around 106 or so.

I'm shocked, shocked by these rankings...... Kansas still has a football team? And they in the top 100?


Would love to see louisville break back into the top 25....

 

One of the deciding factors is who, at this point in the season, looks most capable of beating anyone else.

As evidenced in the dozens of preceding seasons, a single loss can be an anomaly, especially early in a season as new personnel changes look for an identity.

Lose towards the end after your team has been through most of a season and you're SOL.

Conversely, running the table can be an anomaly, as well, as evidenced by Rudy who clearly had NO business being in the title game a few years ago so while it is impressive it may not mean much in the grand scheme, like in most other sports.

 

Hurry and put in your resume for the committee now, you were destined for the job.

1. Box scores aren't an indication of the game, our game vs. Clemson was a much closer one than the final 10 point spread indicated.

2. To your point about them only moving up 1 spot, they shouldn't have been 5 in the first place.

3. If you believe a team should be ranked high because their 1 lose is to a top team, then why is LSU not in top 4?

4. Or UF, since their only lose was to the second best team (according to you)

P.s. - If a team is ranked 2 and they lose (not to #1) they clearly weren't the 2nd best team in the nation, quit trying to sell it like that. But that's a whole other argument.

While I do think SOS should be a contributing factor - you can't completely discredit a team for in-conf. Games. They can only play who their scheduled against.

I do think the SEC made a smart move by requiring teams starting next year to play 1 OOC game vs. a power 5 opponent, and hopefully other conference will follow suit. It only means better football for us, and should dampen the argument of strength of scheduling.

How can you not believe there is some sort of bias towards brand name teams (not just SEC), even if subconscious? TCU got bumped out of 3rd last year in the last week of the season. There is no way in hell that would've happened to Oklahoma or Texas.

 

But auburn beat Louisville...

 

If lsu or uf win out they will be in the top 4 i would bet when its all said and done. There is still a lot of football to be played but after this past couple weeks the top 10 makes since they way it is. I havent thought bama was worthy of a top spot until this weekend, but i think it would be almost impossible to find someone who would say they dont deserve it now

I know, I know, but my brother is a coach at louisville and a top 25 finish would be nice. I'm not going to pretend to understand they way the rankings work, as my eyes glaze over when ever either of my ncaa coaching brothers try and enlighten me.....

I think florida state proved they were way over ranked last year. By the way who does the seminiles play in the acc championship game?

If LSU wins out they still won't get to play in the SEC title game. They're out of it bro. IF Florida wins out, they'll have a shot to be in, but I'm betting they lose the SEC title game. An undefeated Big12 team will keep both of those out though as well.
