I understand the concept of strength of schedule and think it should be part of the equation, but that is still based on the biased opinions because even Bama played 3 gimme games yet they have the hardest schedule? Give me a break, OK St wI'll have just as many ranked opponents at the end of the regular season still in the polls.

This quote says it best right here
"If you don’t value winning then why even play the games? Why not just pick the schools rated highest by recruiting class and just let them play each other? Why play the season?"

I never said sec. I was implying individual teams ( to name a few Bama, ND, Ohio St, OU, Texas, USC for some reason Stanford:notsure:)that are always put above everyone else just because the simple reason of making more money.

    @FSUtaco well said :thumbsup:

They'd need a couple teams to get more than one loss. I doubt the committee will put in LSU after they had their shit pushed in by Bama.

On a serious note......a bunch of Gamecock fans watched the Florida Gators struggle with Vandy last week & are expecting us to whoop them this weekend. I think a lot of Gamecock fans might be alcoholics.

Florida is lucky as F that Vandy offense is too inept to capitalize on all those turnovers.

I can agree with this part.....playing close. Still no cookies though. I feel bad for the coach Elliot. He has improved the team over all but I don't think it'll be enough to keep him......much like Dabo did years ago as an interim coach.

Elliot has seemingly united the players...the rest of the staff is still about as useful as tits on a boar hog

You still have a lot of talent, enough to sneak up and beat a team not prepared for you

He has instilled some pep & drive in the team.....no doubt. But for him to succeed we will need a defensive overhaul & better recruiters. I don't think Ray Tanner will take a gamble on him in the end.

A few of my thoughts on strength of schedule and playoff rankings:

It really cannot be determined until the end of the regular season. Rankings are one thing, and the results of games are another. However, when assessing the strength of schedule, one should consider where an opponent was ranked BEFORE they met, because if your team beats them, they will drop in ranking as a result of said loss. Additionally, one must view how that team has fared since that game.

Based off of my logic, it would seem that Bama's SOS is not as strong as everyone believes (bama fan here).

Wisconsin was ranked #20, now unranked
Ole miss was #15, now unranked
    UGA was #8, now unranked
    TAMU was #9, now unranked
    LSU was #2, now #9
    Heading into MISS ST(17th)

However, as I said earlier, you should consider the ranking before the game because the ranking is affected by Bama's W or L against the opponent. If you beat em, they will be that much lower as a result and 1 more loss.

Bama had its share of cupcakes, but played tough opponents as well. I think they belong where they are based off of how well they are playing to date. They have one loss to an "okay" ole miss team early in the season and only have themselves to blame. 5 TO's, and poor game play...what team doesn't have a bad game every season? If they had lost to a cupcake I would feel different.

If they win out and beat FL in the SEC champ game, they certainly belong.

Yes, if UF wins out they would be in playoff (wow, that hurt to say). But, I'd be willing to wager that if it was a close game you would still try to argue for Alabama being in that 4 spot...

LSU has absolutely no chance. No way they have 2 SEC teams (one that didn't even play in the conference championship), Clemson, ND or OSU and leave out an undefeated Big 12 and 1 loss Pac 12 champ. They would need more than a couple teams to lose and more than a couple to lose multiple games.

Don't know where conversations about last year play in with this? I can only assume you must be frustrated that for the second straight year, ND couldn't even get through their ACC opponents??

We don't play in the conference championship, I know you're not used to the way conferences work, but you have to win your division in order to play in the championship. FSU didn't manage to do that this year.

Also, you gotta let the little guys get in one every now and again or they get discouraged :stirthepot:

So say a team was top 5 preseason then went on to not even make a bowl game (lookin at you 2010 longhorns), do you think that the first team that beat them should count that as a quality win?

You seem to be more reasonable with the SOS argument, but I still don't agree that LSU should be considered a top 2 win for Bama. A good win, yes, but not a top 2 win as the other Bammer claimed.

Oh, and FSU didn't have a bad game for 29 straight games, but I guess there has to be an exception to every rule;)

Im just saying that in 2011 there were two sec teams that made it and only one played the CCG and that was when only the top 2 mattered so... Roll tide (a 2 loss alabama will not get my sympathy if it comes to that btw)
