Everyone should do this when ordering. I can't imagine why anyone would not. You are giving the dealership the opportunity to point outside at your new truck while they shaft you above MSRP.

"Look, your perfect truck is right outside. Give us all your money or someone else will. It's right there! Drive home today! 5000 above MSRP! TODAY!"

 

Not in the market for a new truck. But was offered $1000 over invoice $36k and change for a DCSB OR 4WD with HH (tech package), given the price and the current market in my area let them go ahead and look at my truck for trade, which is where the ridiculousness came in. $26k for my 2015 TRD Sport DCLB 4WD with lift and tires/wheels, not only was this the low end of trade in value ($29k is fair trade value) was also told my truck was not worth as much lifted and that they wouldnt be able to sell it, weird cause my 2011 I traded they sold for quite a handsome asking price which was lifted. After tax, title, license would have been $42k OTD, I snickered, thanked them for the offer but ya no thanks, no Tacoma is worth $42k, these trucks are getting insane.

No kidding! I think that can be negotiated. This quote isn't the truck I built on Costco but I think it is a good baseline.

Got an offer in hand.....Double Cab, Short Bed, TRD Sport 4x2, only option is tow package. (MSRP 32,350) $30,951 all fees included, making it $32,184 (after adding taxes) out the door.
