TRD supercharger

I can make a clear cover that fits the AFE better (really the term should be looser). If you cut the cover exactly as the lid dimesions are, then there will be some slight gaps around the lid that looks crappy. You do not notice it when you have a solid aluminum cover, but a clear or tinted cover you notice it.

Look at the bottom edge of this aluminum cover with respect to the black case. There is an uneven gap between the two.



Now look at this clear plastic cover. It fits very close to the edge of the black box.



This is an older pic, but you can still see the edge of the cover fits very close to the black box.




So if you want to try again, I could make a cover that matches the same dimensions as the cover, but it may not fit as closely as the two in these pics.

 

I'm down. I'll take some precise measurements of the box just to see where we stand on it all.

 

I've been thinking of getting that bpf piece you have. I don't know what they call it....radiator support?? How do you like it?

 

It's called a "cooling panel"
I love it cleans up the front instead of the fat gap there. An it's a great place to set tools!

With them you have to have some sort of hood strut tho he oils t make them with the prop cut out

 

^wut? I think you said he's planning on making some with holes cut out for the hood support?
Get yourselves some redline tuning hood struts. Hands down the best performance purchase I've made lol. Makes any and all engine work way easier. I need to cut my grill up for the grillecraft sitting in my garage, install the BAMF light bar and lights, then grab one of those covers.

I was trying to say you need some sort of support for the hood other than the stock POS

 

Oh haha yes. Almost lost fingers a couple times when i bumped that little silly little bar and the hood came slamming down on ky prerunner. Learned all the crap lessons on that truck, so now I can do it all right on the 4x4. Ugh, speaking of which, I need a new clutch for sure. it slipped in 6th gear tonight on the way to work. Cruising at about 2500 roms, I punched the throttle to pass someone and rpms jumped up to about 4500 and sat there for a good 5 seconds or so until I eased off the throttle a little and then it caught and sped up. I'm heading to the dealer tomorrow to get my first oil change, guess I'll see about a new clutch lol

 

Yeahh I learned a lot when I got my 07 with a 6" DB..... Never again

 

Lol, yeah I'll be getting those for sure. I had them on my last Tacoma. Absolutely one of the best purchases!!

 

Dam dude, that sucks. Konvict Krog is losing his clutch too. Both very new trucks and supercharged. Question.....it seems widely known that our clutches aren't the best out there. Is it that the clutch isn't really that bad and that once we throw a supercharger on the truck and start driving it harder that in turn ends up killing the clutch.

 

I'm guessing the stock clutches just aren't designed to take much more HP as well as slip so much. Plus I'm still relatively new to car clutches (motorcycles are ezpz) so lots of slipping initially for me as I figured out the sweet spots. Which in turn just killed the clutch alot faster. I have every intention of tossing a URD clutch in there one of these days, but why not let the dealer buy me a new OEM one so I can turn around and sell it

 

I guess that is what I was trying to say.....these aren't meant to have the horse power they now have once supercharged and modded. If/when mine goes I'll be doing the same....with the upgraded throw out bearing. Which one will you put in???

 

Well, like I said, I'll let Toyota throw a new clutch in there since my 'aftermarket' additions are through TRD, and if they don't, oh well, no sweat off my back. I was looking at the URD Stage 3 clutch. @Torspd recommended that for quick shifts but able to slip for offroading. I was leaning towards the Stage 2, but still want to get more feedback from anyone who has either.

 

URD stage 3 or SPEC Clutch Stage 2+.

Bpf fabricating. Look at stormythetaco's post(last one on pg37) it's the black cover over the the radiator support...and it has a bpf decal on it. It cleans up the engine compartment nicely
