Fabbed up a divider tonight. Lets me use rear as a trunk without everything sliding to the front of the bed.image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Wow super awesome job! I am sure you could document all of what you did and/or take orders here on "TW". Your creation is WAY super nicer than a $250 piece of plastic!

Cost nothing, just used stuff lying around my shop. If had bought it, make $12 worth of stuff.

LOL. Didn't think about the BBQ scenario.

This round stock is "tree bark" round. It's was left over from a railing I made for my folks a few years ago. :)

Good work man. Paint it with some linex.

My bed extender doubles as a divider for me.

pretty cool job! I wonder about the bottom. What stops it from swinging forward or backward when a "load" is put on it? braking or accelerating.

I made it longer than the distance between the anchors and the mat. So as you're looking at it from the tailgate, the top leans back/away from you. So it's a compression thing. It can't squeeze back and flip under. I first thought about making it rigid, adding a second latch up top at the anchor. But all I really need is something to keep stuff from rolling forward. And it pinches in there nicely with that rubber mat.

Would you be willing to post the dimensions you used? I think my Dad could fab one up for me but he lives in another state, so he can't measure on my truck.

    Just measured, outside dimensions:
    WIDTH: 50 1/4"
    HEIGHT: 16 3/4"

Then just welded some 4-5", 1/8th" flat stock to the top, and drilled to 1/4" holes to go down into the anchor holes.

The only problem you'd have fabbing this up from afar is that you want to angle the divider and the weld the tabs flat on the top. I layed it how I wanted it, bolted the tabs flat on the anchor (tabs no welded to divider yet), then just pinched a clamp on it to temporarily hold the tabs to divider. Took it off carefully and welded the pinched-on tabs to the divider.

Or the tools, welding setup, etc...

This is a $12 mod for people with more than average workshop. IMO
