Hey all, Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Blake, 23, from the Steubenville/Cadiz area. Owned the taco for a little over a year and it is slowly coming together. My dad owns a Metal Fab company and I am currently working for him so working on the truck is a nice hobby Bumper still needs painted. You guys all have some sweet looking rigs. Looking forward to being part of the forum.

Thanks brother. Yeah I made them. I only have one of the rear ( shown above ) and a few of the front but will take more once I paint it up!... hopefully soon.

Holy sh!t! What a bad morning. I took the day off work to install OME lift on my '13 DCLB. The 1st side went easily; I had the new OME strut installed in about an hour. Moved to the drivers side and the bottom shock bolt is rusted solid onto the metal sleeve in the shock. I banged on it with a small sledge 'till I couldn't hit it anymore and only succeeded in bending the other side of the tab back as the sleeve wouldn't budge. I put a wrench on the bolt side and succeeded in spinning the sleeve lose from the rubber, so now the whole bolt and metal sleeve spins freely.

Since I need to drive tomorrow, I accepted defeat and removed the passenger side OME strut and set her all back to stock! Damn... (facepalm)

Now Im going to soak it in PB blaster for a few days, but if that doesnt work, Im not sure what else to do besides take the whole front hub off in order to get a sawzall in there to cut the bolt on both sides.

 

Sorry to hear that man. A good soak will help a lot, and before you go all sawzall or angle-grinder on it remember that heat is your friend. Whether a blow torch or the friction from a dremel tool etc heat gets stuck shit out!

 

PB Blaster and heat will do it. Hopefully you didn't bash up the threads on that bolt too much...

 

Too late Ramen, I've already swooped in, saved the day, and made it back home to hang up my cape! All in a day's work.

 

Access to an air hammer might make quick work.
