So I'm looking to purchase a U.S. Off Road hidden front bumper in the future. I got to thinking, how am I going to use a hi-lift jack? Started surfing online and came across this adaptor for the D-ring. It's pretty expensive for an adaptor, but it seems like it can be an option since I don't want to put sliders on the taco until later in the future.

    What's your opinion?

I haven't heard from anyone... I guess this isn't popular.

No good, won't work on a Tacoma. Says right there in the description: Jeep D-ring adapter.:)

I definitely like the concept. The price tag is what would get me. If I didn't want to risk scratching some sliders or rails, I would definitely be in the market for this. Is there perhaps any other manufacture that sells a similar product, but at a lower price? $160 is quite expensive for something so simple.

A little work and you could probably get this product to mount to the Taco. I'm thinking a D-Ring is a D-Ring. I understand different sizes, but if you're dedicated to it you could make it work. :)

Looks like a nice design with some nice options for lifting. But the cost is certainly up there.

Just jam the hi lift into the dring, no need to spend 160 for that.

Great idea, I've had a hi lift shoot out on me and having it attached to the truck is pretty reassuring. The price tag is ridiculous though. I'm willing to bet a just as effective copy of that could be built for a fraction of the cost.

Before anyone flames me for saying that, yes I understand the engineering and R&D it took to build it, I'm just saying that the material and actual build time for 1 is not $160 worth to most people.

I also thought about doing that, but I hear that it isn't a good idea to just "jam" the hi lift into a D-ring. It has the potential to "shoot out" just like what happened to @Kerleyfries

That's possible but the base isn't locked in either to the ground so there's nothing stopping that from shooting out either. Bottom line is hi lifts are dangerous and should be used as a last resort

    Check out http://www.jakjaw.com/ too.
Don't think it can be used with a D-ring, but is useful for sliders, tubes, etc.

edit: Watched the video from this adapter. I don't see why this can't be used with any D-ring. Looks like a useful product, when needed.

Yea, I would risk paying $40 to try it out and see if it will work on a D-ring. If it doesn't then I will still keep it once I get some sliders welded on, for future use. Thanks for the heads up.

But I already have this one from Lotus Development. Some TW critics say that this is a solution in search of a problem...

I think @Crom may use one of these. I don't think I have heard any issue with it from him.

Anybody saying that has never tried it, or doesn't understand it.

I have one and it gets used in my garage twice a month! It's very well built and designed. It does exactly what is supposed to do.

Never had a problem with it, and would never want to use my hi-lift on the slider without it.

If you plan on lifting your truck from the slider, I highly recommend it! :)

    Hope that helps.

Agree with Anthony here. When I needed to lift the rear end, I just jammed the lifting beak of hi lift into dring, it works.

Thank you for your feedback. I want to make sure that I can gather some knowledge from those whom have experience with a hi-lift. I have seen the lift-mate before, but wasn't sure that it could be used with the shackle. I will look into purchasing this in the near future.

Hey...I'm a Jeep guy...but used to own a Tacoma TRD Extra cab! Anyway. I was just surfing to see if anyone else has put out info on the DLA, and ran across this page. I was fortunate enough to get to review one, and figured I'd share the info. It's definitely not Jeep specific, and would fit any standard recovery d-ring shackle, and of course the top surface is universal. The inventors are Jeep guys...but the product itself is useful on anything. Anyway..here is the article I wrote for 4wheelsandamotor.com (also not specific to Jeeps - even though there is a lot of Jeep content there). 4wheelsandamotor.com/gear/review-jeepsneeds-d-lift-adapter-dla/

Let me know if you have any questions. It really is a cool product, and while the price may seem hi...the safety factor is worth it imho. Make sure you watch the video at the bottom of the article.

I thought the EXACT same thing. I asked them about the price point, and it boils down to the fact that the way this is made (safest method possible) out of a single piece of steel with complex and multiple bends...the manufacturing process is much more expensive than you might imagine. It takes a 200 ton press to shape these. They decided to not have them stamped or cast - because in the end, it's a safety product. They chose to not cut corners (and costs). Just thought I'd make that point. Take it for what it's worth.
