What is it like on-road with a mechanical locker? Does it lock up if you take a corner too tight/fast?

It's locks when torque is applied. Pretty much anytime you touch the gas to accelerate it locks. It took a sec to get use to on road, not because it drives bad but because of how it works. If you hit the gas, it locks. If you let off the gas, it unlocks. This is amplified in a stick shift specifically when driving in something like rush hour traffic where you don't actually shift gears but instead you just hit the gas to speed up the let off the gas to slow down. While turning if going slow and hitting the gas it will chirp the inside tire continuously. If turning while going fast on the gas you don't notice it at all. If turning while going fast while not hitting the gas then getting on it, it will lock and jerk the truck. Pretty much if you don't drive like your trying to break your rear end on the road then theres not much difference. It does give you magical abilities to drift very controlled. Haha

This is a fantastic locker, especially if you don't plan to run bigger then 35s. Combine it will either stock gears or a properly set up r&p and some good gear oil and it will last you awhile. You will not find this locker at a better price then what this guy is selling it for. If you want the best "full time" locker for the street, this is it. Once again, it's a drop in locker. You can do it with a set of sockets in your driveway. Could be by far the best sub $400 you spend on your truck for offroad capabilities

Shit man, I want it. But I drive ALOT. It's hard to do something knowing it's going to hurt the Daily drivability. I drive like a major grandma so it probably wouldn't be that bad. What's the expected life span on something like this? Obviously, yours hasn't worn out yet so you may not know.

You know what, screw it. Just pm'd him and told him I want it if it's not already claimed. I probably won't install it anytime soon. I drive the truck 100mi/day 5days/week for the time being. Within a year or two I'll be getting the wifey a new(er) car and I'll start driving her Altima back and forth. Or maybe I'll get lucky and get transferred to one of the lakes close to home. Whenever either of those happens I'll be free to have fun with the truck without worrying about daily drivability. There won't be any issues with fit between his 07 SR5 and my 13 SR5 will there?

I've researched this style (not this brand) and pretty much decided to get a selectable locker. Price is good though, and I know you have met or exceeded designed capacity for abuse lol. May get it off of @rngr if he never gets around to installing it.

Hahaha I've noticed a trend in my life of having some kind of influence on people, whether good or bad. Haha but good. Buy it. Dude is selling it for $300!!!! That's fuckin insane low for that thing brand new. And I daily drive my truck. Well not daily anymore but I didn't have a second vehicle until two years ago. I drive my truck anywhere and too and from the meets we have, sometimes as far as 300 miles 1 way. This locker is made for the street. That's it's biggest claim to fame. It's not an off road only locker.

I wouldn't wait anytime to install it. It should come with instructions for you to do. If you are mechanically inclined then it shouldn't be a problem. And yes. If your truck does not have the elocker in it then it has the 8.4" diff. That's what this locker goes in.

Better check to make sure you don't have the lsd. But if you buy it, I'll give you $40 more than what you paid for it. Plus gas money

I'm pretty sure (assuming what I've read is true) that 2008 was the last year with mechanical LSD. 2009 and up trucks have an open diff, but mimic a LSD by using the TRAC system to apply braking to the slipping tire when in 2WD or 4HI. Anyway, I'll keep you in mind if anything changes.

Carter, you'll love it. Back when I had an XJ lots of people had them, and it doesn't diminish daily driving. Then you won't be in that situation like at LBL where we ended up having to pile a bunch of crap under tires and a strap to Jeremy's truck. You can still drive up trees though.

Yeah they are recaps 2 are brand new and 2 have about 10,000 miles on them. They are 285/70r17 one of the tires tread is worn a little weird due to alignment issues. Ill sell the rims for $850 or the wheels and tires for $1000. I'm not trying to make money off of them just get out what I have in them so I can get some UCA's and get this alignment issue solved.

Anyone want these for free? They were used literally for one day back in 2013. @Unchained 5150 has been doing some crazy "pay it forward" type stuff here lately. I thought it was pretty cool so I'm going to pay for shipping (or bring them to you if you're close)to whoever wants these. I figured I'd start local before I post this elsewhere. Good day, gents!
