Im so sorry to hear that Jordan. Having lost my dog a several months back to a heart attack, I know how you feel. She was fine the night before and then the next morning was just gone.
I don't know how to advise except to say ask any and all question you might have to the vet. But your dog only knows you and your emotions, not what going on with her body. Showing and giving her love will be what she understands, and I can only say that if I had had the opportunity to give Sandy more love right before she passed, I would have. I would have done anything to spend one more day with her.
It's not fair. It won't be, and I feel for you.
Hang in there, and I'll be saying a prayer for you, your family, and your girl.

:( So sorry you might have to make the decision. BTDT and it sucks. I've made the decision twice - when the girls were both in so much pain, they were basically just existing. I know you will make the right decision for HER.

I'm so sorry man.....I've been there......3 times. It never really gets easier and all three had to go sooner than they should've. I was at peace knowing I was doing the right thing for them and I rescued them all and gave them great lives. It sounds like you've done the same. My heart goes out to you bro.

You have already been given sound and great advice by others. Yeah it doesn't get any easier over the years as mentioned if anything it gets harder. The only thing I could add is when it my next time to do it I will have the vet come to my house to do it. Never done it that way but the last memories of too many dogs have been in a sterile vets office. I doubt my oldest will make it through the winter. I waited too long once, don't do that either. You don't want those memories either. And thank you for giving her a great life sounds like you both were the better for it.

Great pics and dog! My main grouse hunting friend is owned by 3 French Britts, I have had the pleasure of hunting with him and his dogs for almost 10 years now. They all have some wheels on them. We don't run bells any more though because of the wolves, I do miss that sound. Or even better when that sound stops and you know the dog is on point....

I don't envy your position and tho I've been through it a few times, it's never easy deciding and never easy following through.

I wish you all the best with your decision and I'm sorry it's such a hard one to make :(

anyone have experience with Airedale Terriers? See picture below.

My wife and I have taking a liking to terriers in general, after having our 15 lb terrier mix for about a year now. looking for a friend for our little guy, but considering a larger flavor of terrier. I've known a couple of Airedales before, but never had one. there is a 5 month old Airedale puppy at a local shelter that we are hoping to meet this weekend. Benji, our 15 pounder, while small, much prefers to play with larger dogs. his best friends are a 45 lb Boykin Spaniel, 65 lb Rhodesian Ridgeback, and a 120+ lb Great Dane. so we're thinking that a 40-60 lb Airedale might be a good fit for him, while maintaining the personality and hypoallergenic nature of terrier breeds that my wife and I have come to love.

Here's our tiny terrier. full of energy as always

and here's an Airedale, for those who don't know what they look like.

just looking for people's experience on Airedales?

    thanks for the help :)

    Thanks Mike...
This is our 1st EB and so far "The Dude" is a keeper :) We had an American Britt for 15 years and had to put her down 14 years ago.
I'm very pleased with this little guy.... much smaller than our American was, works in a lot closer, a great temperament/personality and smart.
At 10 mos he's a real pisser and a lot of fun..... And he has claimed the second seat area of the Taco!!! 20151004_104916.jpg 20151004_104902.jpg

Thanks guys. Just with her now and shes doing better but I just dont know what the right thing to do is. Im getting an ultrasound done today to find out if theres something wrong that is causing the low platelet count which will likely not allow her to beat it. I just have to know so I can either let her keep fighting it or just let her go. I have thought long and hard and Im feeling ok with either decision because I dont want to remember her as a sick weak dog. I want to let her go before that happens. She was quite alert today and started eating again so I feel like it makes it even harder to contemplate having her put down, so I just hope this ultrasound goes well and we find a definite answer.

Don't know much about the breed. A friend of mine has two, but I haven't spent much time with them. What exactly would you like to know? I'll pass on your questions to him.

Great dogs, very stoic. They can be hard headed, and mine cannot be let off leash outside of a fence because he will chase anything he sees. He is the funniest goofy dog I've ever had!

This is not for looks! We've been camping alot in colder weather and he gets cold when were outside at night sitting down. He hasn't really grasped the fire= heat concept well so we got him this thing. The inside part is some pretty thick fleece.

My puppy is all grown up. About time. Draco is half American Bulldog and half pit. Doomsday or "Doomers" is half German shepherd and half red heeler, he is pretty much a travel size Shepard.
Doomers was born on mother's day 2013 now 65lbs
Draco was born day after mother's day 2015, now 52lbs
