Of the current commercials with relatively unknown actresses, I think Lily, the AT&T chick, is the hottest.

 

This was Community Toyota in Baytown. I had never heard of them. I live on the North side of Houston; they are East. (Edit: started 8 years ago.)

I haven't taken the time to follow up with any of the dealers. I think I need to start from scratch. The problem is: I want JBL; but, not tonneau cover. In all of GST (TX, OK, AR, LA, MS) the closest I can get is both JBL and cover or neither. It seems from this first round, no one wants to give a quote for a vehicle they don't have. It seems want I want is readily available outside GST; so, I may end up in New Mexico or somewhere. It would be nice to have a little vacation and be done with the break-in when I get home.

I am not in a rush. My '02 is fine. Although, I did just have to replace the battery and it is due for some maintenance.

 

I asked my friend and she said she doesn't know what her title is. She had a different position when she first started.

Toyota doesn't want to sell you a truck with JBL without the tonneau cover. They need a certain number of trucks (30%) to meet their fuel economy targets so they enforce 100% tonneau on anything with JBL.

Here is the leaked spec sheet from earlier this year. Check out the bottom stuff about the tonneau.

 

My Tacoma was "ordered" with JBL and without TC. I have the build sheet from dealer to verify this but obviously won't know 100% until I see the truck upon delivery. At that point I think I'd have a valid argument to not pay for it, given the lengthy paper trail on what I asked for, what was ordered, and what I've been promised on paper... at the end of the day it isn't going to break the deal for me but IMO the TC is useless. I need to have full use of the bed too often to have to worry about taking the TC on and off.

 

No, this appears to be a decision made by GST (don't know about SET). What I want is available in NM, TN, etc. I think GST just figured if you don't mind paying for JBL you could afford the tonneau. (I think I did see one in white DCSBTRDOR4WD before.)

 

The pages I linked to are from SoCal dealers so it's more than just GST. I think you may be able to special order one your way but you might have trouble finding one on a lot with that options list.

 

Yeah, it looks like I could 'order' it. When I bought my '02 from GST I could not get a sunroof even though they 'ordered' my truck; but, internet listed sunroof as an option?

I wonder if that 30% tonneau thing fell through with EPA. I remember Sweers saying best in class MPG. I don't see it that way. Also, that leak says 100% tonneaus on Limiteds. You can get a Limited without a tonneau.

 

That would get me to the dealer.
