    understood. That's why I asked.

I can take you to dozens of places, on paved roads even, that have no signal.

My Entune Nav will not let me plug in an address while moving. The Address button is grayed out if the vehicle is in motion. It will however, let me find POIs and set them as nav points. Kind of an oddity, but hey.

I certainly won't argue with that. I didn't realize that you were speaking of the GPS signal. Well, the phone is no different than the in-dash system. If either quits, you gotta rely on your mad land nav skills! That's why I also keep a US Road Atlas (yes, yes you can still buy them!), and also why I am an avid collector of the state maps that you can grab at rest stops all over the country.

yeah poi's are great, if you have updated map info, which is a vicious circle, pay the $$$ for updated info and poi's.

I prefer the garmin, full control during moving or what not and free lifetime updates. its a trade off.

for the price of 1 oem nav update, I can get a 5" garmin with lifetime map updates, move saved routes between vehicles, download routes from my computer to the garmin, use for hiking, etc.

with the oem nav, I can do just nav on it, any routes I save are stuck in that nav, cant move it to another Toyota nav.

now if they tied that crap into your entune account and you can export/import from your www.toyota.com/entune account, that would impress me.

so its a mute point, your using pre saved points or routes. the point is, i usually use the nav to find a location that i don't know where it is.

Have you tried using voice commands to input a destination while driving?

Just wait until someone pays for it and then posts it for the internet community to "borrow" it. However, sometimes they can get tricky and require it to be at a dealer to "trigger" the ability to update it with a required dealer level reset.

I use "mute" since it most likely will fall on deaf ears :)

Bed rug, ARE bed top, Weathertechs. Little goodies here and there!
Only a few months of having the taco, but what i do like is the Android Entune app, you can enter addresses, then synch up with the GPS. That works very well. You can use voice commands only for entering an address. Pita if you don't know the exact address. Also, was able to pull addresses off of my contact list in the phone via voice while driving. POI, well it didn't find a Taco John's that was straight up the street from me, instead, wanted me to turn around, blah, blah. I just wanted to know how much further it was. (son works there and was visiting, turned out I was only a few miles away, but the OCD in me wanted to know) I did get a Entune update and the receipt indicated Entune/Nav update. Free, under warranty. Afraid to know what it costs otherwise.

5.1, was done just a few weeks ago. I no longer go deaf when answering calls and reaching for the volume. :) Think I was like on 2 something or other initially

Not sure how old the maps are for the original release, but my road is not even on the map and it's about 2 years old....

Learn to use Voice Commands. They work great in this truck from finding a single song among thousands on a 32GB USB Stick to inputting address information, on the fly

Mine is sort of on their but it's on there "ish" and mine is 30 years old in a city center. So it all comes down who they buy their map data from and their suppliers accuracy.
