Using towing and roadside assistance through your insurance company can increase your premiums.
If you carry this option, you should check if using it will affect your rates..just like an accident..if it does, remove it from your policy and get AAA.

I pay $95 per month with USAA...been with them for 12 years. They are not what they used to be as far as being the "cheapest" -- I called GEICO and Met Life, both quoted me about $20 per month less with my current coverages for Auto. They also were able to save me $200 per year on my Home Owners policy. However I elected to stay with USAA because when I called MetLife three separate times to setup a new policy, I talked to three different people and all of them were obviously located at an overseas Call Center. When you call USAA, you get someone from the good ol' USofA who speaks clear english and I love that enough to pay the extra. Plus all of my banking services are through USAA and I can access everything from one website, one log-in.

We get bent over for insurance in BC. 2600 for a year with a clean driving record. 2300 since I stopped using it to commute.

This is why people need to carry under-insured and why it is the most expensive line item. Too many carry the minimums which don't even cover the helicopter ride...

to be fair I carry the minimums since I don't drive it much. It sits at work during the week so I am not driving it at peak times for most accidents. Sure things happen outside of commute hours but it limits exposure to problems.

Just want to mention that my rate is for pleasure driving only with less than 7,500 miles driven per year. Last year, I only drove 1,800 miles.
