Yes, but you have to go off of something. You cant expect a team to schedule current out of conference games with top 10 talent every year, especially when in certain conferences your conference schedule ALSO includes top 10 or 20 talent. Like you said, those teams may be out of the top ten by the time the games are played. So, I will ask again....should Bama have to schedule Ohio State/TCU/FSU/Notre Dame/Clemson/OK State/Baylor/Michigan State/Oregon/Stanford as their OOC games every year?

No, I don't think they should have to play all ranked opponents, that is silly. I was just using Bama as an example, since that they (ESPN/Committee) keep bringing up a mute point of scheduling cupcake games for the Big12 when even the "hardest schedule" of Bama still includes cupcake games. Everyone schedules an easy win or two. I do agree, Bama should be in the top 4 as a 1 loss SEC Champ because they do look like a top 4 team.

My problem is with all the others that are ahead of Ok St. I know I am biased since I am an alumni, but they have a marquee win over an undefeated TCU, road conference wins over .500 teams, they are ranked #5 in the AP and Coaches polls.
#3 Ohio St. - Marquee win? no, ranked opponent at any point? no, and a weak out of conference and conference schedule
#4 ND - Marquee win? Barely beating Temple and a now ranked Navy doesn't look that impressive, scheduling advantage since no conference affiliation and still has cupcake games, getting more credit for their loss to a team than any win they have, has committee rep
#5 Iowa - Marquee win? Northwestern, barely beat a below .500 Indiana and moved up 4 spots, weak schedule
#6 Baylor - Marquee win? Nope, cupcake out of conference, 2 wins over .500 teams and everyone else below
#7 Stanford - Marquee win? UCLA or @ USC, 2 committee reps who make the excuse of body clocks for their loss and one rep has nothing to do with football. Really? Tell me they aren't biased?

The only thing that will prevent the pokes from getting in (if they win out) is the lack of a big12 champ game...yall really need one. Bama and Clemson are in if they win out. Ohio state is probably locked in as well, esp. if they win the big10. It would come down to the pokes and notre dame, who also doesn't have a conf. champ game. I assure you if either of the 2 had that extra game, they would get in over the other. This will be interesting.

A few of the teams ahead of the pokes have to play each other. Stanford/notre dame, ohio st./iowa, and then the pokes get baylor. I hope yall arent on the outside looking in at no. 5 when its all said and done, but there's a chance. If yall go undefeated i think yall belong in over a 1 loss notre dame.

OU fan, obviously by my member name. We desperately need to get a championship game back in the Big 12. It would also help if we were the Big 12, with 12 teams, and not the 10 in the 12. Question is, what two do you add?

Couldn't agree more on adding two teams to enable a championship game that is desperately needed. I think that Cincinnati and Memphis would be a couple good choices

    Btw this is hilarious

We really need 4 mega-power conferences, with 18 teams in each, champion of each conf. goes to the big dance.

So how does LSU being ranked 2nd when Bama beat them factor in? If they weren't expected to do so well at the beginning of the season (i.e. highly ranked preseason), they might have only been ranked around around 7,8,9 when they played Bama and would be down around 15 now.

I think you're explanation shows why preseason rankings need to go (which they obviously never will), Ole Miss was ranked 3rd at one point this season, 3RD, solely because they beat Bama. Which then tiered down to UF getting a huge bump in rankings when they beat them, and LSU looking even stronger when they took care of Florida. I don't know maybe I'm the only one that thinks there is a ridiculous over reaction in polls based on how people "think" teams are going to do.

FSU definitely had bad games, but you inferred that every team has at least 1 bad game per year that results in a L to which I pointed out how your inference was incorrect.

Screw it, let's just move to 64 teams that way everybody has a fair shot! I mean we might make the regular season obsolete and make college football only important for 1 month (similar to college basketball), but oh well at least all the 6-6er's will have their chance. There will always be a clash of opinions, even if we do 8 teams there will be arguments over 6,7,8.

My issues lie within the committee, not the playoff. We need to get rid of this idea that 12 people should hold the fate of college footballs champion. The next lowest amount of members that vote on a poll is something like 60, yet we let 12 people pick the poll that matters. And not only is it 12 people, over half have some sort of active involvement at a university and have something ($$) to gain should a member of their conference make it and win it. Huge conflict of interest if you ask me.

A poll with a large amount of members to even out opinions and computers that have no affinity or partisanship will be a step in the right direction. The poll will also balance the computers inability to actually watch games and the computers balance out human tendency to bring bias into the equation.

Can we stop referring to these teams by their past rankings? You really think LSU is the number 2 team and UGA and TAMU deserve to be considered top 10's?

Thank you. Glad someone gets it.

Oh another note, FSU announced they will be starting Golson Saturday.

    To be fair,

If a committee member has a direct tie to a school being discussed, they cannot even be in the room for that discussion...meaning for the last 2 weeks, Clemson's AD hasn't had any say...they're supposedly not allowed to even try and convince other committee members outside of the official discussion

But...I see your point whereas last year Clemson stood to benefit from FSU hitting the homerun ball so our AD would vote them higher

I wouldn't mind adding in a few more people (maybe not 60) but a handful more can't hurt for sure

If MSU wins out and LSU loses 2 more then MSU wins the West and I go broke making a trip to Atlanta during finals week.

Memphis, BYU, and Boise would all be good to go after.
