First off, WELCOME to TW! Great place to hang out and maybe even learn a thing or two. You'll get every opinion imaginable. Some even worth listening to....!

2" top plate spacers.....actual lift totals 2-3/4" above what stock height was on my truck. 1/2" poly spacer on drivers side to negate "taco lean". Worth mentioning, this truck had over 40,000 miles on stock coils BEFORE lifting, so not as much settling as with new coils, but maybe not as much lift as would have been the case with new suspension. Should be representative of what you will encounter with your 2011. Ride is quite a bit better than a 3" suspension lift I did have on the truck (both front shocks blew out so I removed that lift) I MAY upgrade to different shocks/coils in the future, but have ZERO issues with the spacers. Truck has been off road enough to know spacers are NOT nearly as "evil" as some will portray them. Decent low buck lift. Just be sure to put spacers under bump stops. (Equal to thickness of top plate spacers) This will prevent shocks from bottoming before suspension travel is bottomed. If you don't do any off roading at all, you can probably get by virtually forever without the bump stop spacers. I'd HIGHLY recommend them anyway.

This is even a 2011 like yours.

Bilstein 5100's on all four corners. Front set @ 0 with OME 883x coils. Alcon leaf springs. Viper Alarm. Wet Okole seat covers. WeatherTech Floor liners front and back. Oem Toyota chrome exhaust tip. ARE Shell. America Outlaw Wheels.
Welcome to T W . As bluegrass said this is an awesome site and very educational. I have a 2011 prerunner and I did a leveling kit. I got the OME 883 coils on the 5100s set at 0. I got just a little over 1 1/2 on the drivers side and 1 3/4 on pass side. I do wish I would have done the driver side spacer for the taco lean . But I am very happy with the ride and the way it looks . Having trouble posting pics but you can check out my gallery. Hope this helps .

Thanks for the info! But all I am doing is putting 2in spacers on and I wanna find a good size tire running stock wheel I could tuck under without running. I thought about 285/70 r17. What y'all think?

It's a bad idea. Only reason Bluegrass is getting away with a spacer kit is because he's running 265s. To go up to a 285 you need new UCAs and should get new coils with shocks. There is no "cheap" alternative. Stick with 265s if you don't want to spend the money. Otherwise you will f' up your truck and alignment.

275/70/17 with a 2" spacer lift is a safe and good looking setup.

Not 100% accurate. I could run 285's. I wouldn't need UCA's....I WOULD need to do the CMC, just as ANY 3" (or less) lift with 285's would need to do. I've put together 3 trucks (for "customers") with same spacer lift I used AND 285's....

The need for upper control arms is about the ability to get proper alignment with lifts of 3" or more. Wheel spacers OR wheels with more offset will allow 285's to clear UCA's just fine.

"Could" and "Should" are 2 different things. Just trying to give the guy good advice.

Well, you "should" know what you're talking about before you "could" give accurate advice....

Like I said, I've put together a number of trucks with this same spacer lift AND 285's....There was ABSOLUTELY no "need" for UCA's......I've had 2 different sets of tire/wheels on MY truck.....that were 285's....just to see what it looked like. They fit fine.....and didn't need UCA's.....

Excuse you but the guy says he doesn't want to spend any money and you're mentioning a CMC? I've owned a few trucks in my day buddy.

Personally, I'm on 4wd #17. I've owned a 4wd of some shape or form since the early 70's. I work on trucks for other people. Those probably number well into the hundreds....Not my first rodeo.

Tell me, EXACTLY how many Tacomas have you owned, and how many have you installed spacer lifts (or any other kind of lift) on....

And the fact of the matter is, you're STILL wrong....Anyone can run 285's WITH STOCK UCA's and NOT have the first issue. It's all about rim offset, be that achieved with different rims OR with wheel spacers. Your claim was otherwise.....

Oh...and while you're at it, quote me where the OP said he "didn't want to spend any money....."

Hint....He didn't. He said he wants to keep a moderate lift so as to not void his warranty. Keep it real.....You have a right to make up your own opinion....You DON'T get to make up your own facts...

Not to mention the FACT that a person could do a CMC and not spend the first red cent.....

285's can create problems because of their extra width (relative to 265's) AND the height can cause problems with rubbing frame/fender wells, etc. Even a 3" lift will rub with 285's without frame and fender well trimming.

    I'm a big fan of the 265's.

OP, it’s my opinion – based on the countless amount of information I’ve gathered on TW over the years, what my personal mechanic has discussed with me, as well as first hand experience working on my and my brother-in-law’s Tacoma – that you should not go up to a 285 unless you want to spend more money than what a simple spacer lift will cost.

Others will have different opinions – and that’s cool – just do some research before you make any decisions. Good luck.
