If cup drivers didn't race the lower series it would actually encourage smaller teams to compete in that series. The biggest concern is those sponsors leaving because of the cup drivers. I would actually take more interest in xfinity races if cup drivers weren't there, get to see young drivers going at it for the win more, gaining their own identity in the sport, which in turn could lead to sponsorship if it gains more appeal.

The idea of racing against cup drivers and getting experience is great, I still believe it hurts the series more than benefit. The proposal probably won't be applied anyway. If they were smart they would limit the amount of races each cup driver could race in the series (let's say 5) Best of both worlds.

 

I think, with the direction the sport is headed with franchising and Cup affiliated feeder teams (a'la MLB), is the Cup sponsors will have to commit and invest in the lower tier feeders more than they do now. It's nothing new and has been tried in tested in other pro sports. It's a natural progression of sports as an entertainment business. Sadly, as mentioned above, with franchising and shared revenues, we'll see the end of the little guys, the privateers who are what made NASCAR.

 

I agree with limiting the Cup guy's races in lower tiers. I also like the idea of reducing their HP up to 100hp to see how they fare with less motor. Another idea (highly exploitable), is to mandate Cup guys can only run for the smaller independent teams. Having a good driver in your cockpit providing clear feedback will help the smaller teams learn and grow.

 

The cup guys aren't all that bad to race it... And limit them... Only a few even drive the series...

 

I believe 15 different cup drivers have raced an xfinity race this year. I think half of those have put in more than 3 races.

Dillon, Busch, keselowski, logano, Hamlin, Larson, Paul Menard, and Landon cassill have all run more than 5 races, some quite a few more. I think Busch was scheduled for 26 before injury. Earnhardt Jr., kahne, a s Harvick ran a minimum of 4 each.

 

Just a bunch of sponsor talk, I'll never say never, but I don't see JR accepting that invite.

 

It's the FIA licence you need to qualify for in order to be allowed to not only race F1 cars but also run them in practice , qualifying or testing and he doesn't qualify to be able to get one

Looks like 14 different full time xfinity race drivers have won since 2010 (that's as far back as I looked).

Mark Martin was even racing in the series then lol
