I have already been considering upgrading my door speakers. I did not get the JBL option and the sound quality isn't up to my liking.

Has anyone already replaced their door speakers? If so, what size are they?

So far I can't find info on this either.
Do we at least know for sure what sizes the current setup is?
This ones a little more obscure: The Utility Package option removes the rear speakers from an AC model. As far as modifying the truck structure or door cards, how difficult will it be to add speakers?

@pino can you take pictures of your back doors? I am curious if they are different from mine.

The front door speakers are 6x9. I wonder if taco tunes are working on this system?

Im sure taco tunes and the oem audio guys are both working on systems. Only downfall of OEM guys is that its a full system with sub, but it is plug&play

That's kind of pricy, I was hoping to buy some nice door speakers and seeing how much that helped before adding an amp and sub.
I'm not really concerned about tweeters, I have tweeters in my celica and the highs are too much at times.

Would you get much more out of just replacing speakers without putting an amp in?

You're wasting money if you just replace speakers without an amp. If you are going for the cheapest route you can just run an amp to your factory speakers. If you piece together something yourself you can probably get it done for about $600-700 replacing speakers and adding a small amp

From my experience in my other vehicles you can, and you wouldn't be wasting your money because regardless, your taking a step in the right direction even if you plan on adding a sub and amp later.

Aftermarket speakers made by a reputable company are going to be made with much more superior materials than the ones Toyota slap in.

Aftermarket speakers are also much more efficient and can sound good with less power.

Not trying to cheap out here, I would just rather make the upgrades slowly.

Speakers first and then amp and sub if need be.

I build one off stereo equipment for a hobby, high end or beyond high end really, $1K for a car stereo, pass.

The make or break for good sound is the speakers. You can throw a great amp at a setup with crappy speakers its still going to sound like crap. Put the best speakers you can afford in first and get used to them, a GOOD quality amp can only improve the sound.

I don't really think a car interior is the best platform for listening to music IMHO - the noise floor is too high specially in a truck with large tires. Save your money..

Makes sense. Looking forward to how all of this goes for you and how much trouble it is to
install all of them. Currently the Prem. & Tech. package sounds pretty good in mine.(no jbl here)

Depends on the vehicle, the RMS wattage of the headunit and the type of speakers you replace them with. You can amp stock speakers to an extent and improve your sound quality. If you put a decent set of speakers in there and the power your headunit pushes is shit, or too low for the speakers, they are going to sound horrible and not much better than stock. In fact they could sound worse

just a quick input, if anyone plans on installing speakers and a deck, make sure the deck has preamp outputs for a future amplifier for speakers and/or subwoofers if you desire this set up in the future. I made that mistake years ago and cost me about an extra $100. I also second bobrown14, when he says speakers first. I install car audio on the side and good quality speakers are the main component to getting quality sound.

    Thanks for the input guys,

I'm debating which speakers I should go with.
I looking at the Rockford Fosgate's punch speakers or pioneers higher quality line.

I don't know if I should go 2 way or 3 way and so forth.

Not saying quality speakers are not important, but would you put a turbo in a car and feed it regular gas? You are only solving part of the issue when replacing the speakers and keeping a stock head unit with no amp? for the little bit extra it will make it that much better
