This came up on another thread..

What do you guys recommend for differential and transfercase oil changes? I dont know if the original owner over changed his oils down there and would like to get it out of the way.

Of course, when the rear locker gets installed, the shop will put fresh oil in it..

So ill just have to do front and transfercase..

I definitely have been missing a lot of action in this thread! For some reason I wasn't getting email notifications either...

I'll give you guys an update. Last night I pulled the rear bumper and ground my hitch down to bare steel and put on a coat of primer. Going to sand it down and prime again after class today, then 3 or so coats of flat black sometime this weekend.

Also working on wiring up a light bar. I bought everything off Amazon because I had a gift card from a book return, so I bought a blue sea fuse panel and circuit breaker, 10' of 4awg and ring terminals, 200' of 16awg and ring terminals, hella waterproof relay and harness, and of course a $46 light bar now all I need is a piece of 16 gauge steel to mount the sucker on and I'm ready to start wiring!

I'll get some pics after class haha

I gotta do transfer case soon. My internals are sticking and it's causing a lot of issues with engaging 4wd. This was caused by neglect from PO. So I definitely recommend keeping good clean fluid in there.

That sucks, I hope you heal up quick and you are back on your feat soon.

I forgot to respond back to your scanguage post, how are you liking it? I am running the Ultragauge and I love it. I wish in the 96's you could see transmission temp though.

The really good stuff is either Royal Purple or Redline. I ran Royal Purple in my Grand Cherokee, you can save about $5 a QT with Mobil 1 and you will need about 5 QTs for the job.

The Scangauge and Ultragauge can't read Transmission temps in 4Runners from 96-98, I believe in 99 and up the ECU reads it. I probably could, I would have to look into how to do wire that up.

There's nothing better than Amsoil!! Run it in all 5 vehicles...awesome stuff!
Once again Amsoil is the way to go...antifreez is the only thing I don't use of theirs,
Thats what I was afraid of. She's all locked up nice in tight in a warm garage with the alarm set...big boy!!
Thank you @RedRunner87 for the well wishes. You give well wishes and @ramonortiz55 just wants to know where my T4R is so he can swipe it or parts! Should have known to not let him the SSS!! We'll be watching you :quickdraw:

Royal Purple is about the same price as Amsoil is. Been using it for 20+ years!! Awesome stuff!

Amsoil I have heard is good stuff. I will definitely keep that in mind when I do my diffs and T-Case later on in the summer. So far my T-case has been working well and I haven't had any sticking or anything.
