Spacers are never an ideal option, even if you are just going for the look. They will negatively affect your ride quality and like others have said, you definitely get what you pay for. I'll also echo what others have said regarding the 5100's. If you just want to raise the front end, you can simply buy some adjustable 5100's and swap your stock coil and top hat onto those. You'll maintain a good ride quality and get the added height that you are looking for..

thanks for the info jerry im coming from driving a slammed car to a truck and all this is new to me, instead of going down im going up in height hahaha. I definitely did not cheap out on my car build, nothing but quality parts. I guess ill just do a lil saving up for something decent for my taco

 

I'm not saying the 5100s are bad but I had a very bad experience with them. Had my height adjusted on my tundra with the 5100s and I guess the snap ring wasn't properly place or it was bent from adjustments. So when I drove off, the clip popped off and my front end collapsed. Jerry what would you recommend, I've been debating on just doing the 5100's and a add-a-leaf, or saving for a while and putting in some nice coil overs and a whole new leaf pack in the rear? You're familiar with the terrain where I'm located. I'm not looking to make this truck into a rock crawler but to be able to fit some 285s and be more capable off road. I also have plans for skids a sliders (maybe a new bumper) and I know that'll affect the lift height, especially if I left it stock. Any other opinions are also welcomed. Thanks.

 

Looks like you're set. If you plan on going 1.75 or higher on the 5100s it would be wise to upgrade UCAs.

 

Your good. Unless you have a 4x4 and want to add a diff drop for slightly better cv angles. For the rear, if you get vibrations after the lift, you can add shims or CB drop spacers.

 

Thanks man appreciate the help, recommendation on the UCA's? Total Chaos are a bit pricey, but if other options are far worse then I'll just have to suck it up... also with that setup you think my Toyo Open Country AT2 - 285/75r16 will fit without needing spacers?

 

I do have a 4x4 are these things highly recommended? I dont want to throw the lift on and then have issues.

Depends if your talking to a hardcore off-roader or not. Off-roaders don't add the diff drop because it's lowers the diff making contact point lower. For everyday use, probably best to have. It'll give you better life on your cv and boots. For the rear, every truck is different for some reason. People that aren't currently running spacers or shims have not reported and vibrations in driveline. As for 285 tires on stock wheels, you'll rub UCA without spacers.

 

Honestly I'd wait to pick up some total chaos ones if you can't afford it right now. It'll be worth the extra $150. A lot of places are having deals for thanksgiving. You'll be fine without the uca. Your probably not looking for extra travel or anything. Probably just better alignment numbers.

 

Yea exactly. That works for me. I may have to run the toyo's on the trd off road wheels that came with it until i can afford to pick up some beadlocks. havent quite decided yet. But if i do that you are saying I am more than likely going to need spacers and def. a UCA's

 

You don't need the UCA, only spacers to run the 285s.

 

damn, was hoping to avoid spacers as ive only heard bad things about them, what other options do I have to get those 285's under there without spacers?

 

yea so how much offset am i gonna need im looking for an all black wheel that will look good on this white taco, seen a few different ones I like by Method and Fuel but dont know a damn thing about offset. Def sticking with 16's if i can.
