If you want to permanently disable DTRL, yes, cut the wire, apply vinyl electrical tape on cut wires. done.

Well, I believe you...I was just wondering how the ECM knows the DRLs are not on, and knows to flash them on (with power) with the head/tail lights off.

    Oh, and nice build Crom!

Cutting the green wire with red tracer will permanently sever the electrical circuit between the Body ECU and the Turn Signal Flasher.

What you want to know is probably explained by logic that is internal to the relay flasher, has nothing to do with ECM. See this post from 2014.

Nice to see another ham, 73

Aha! So its not the DRL circuit per se, but rather, a "sense" wire that the headlights are "on" for the body ECU, thus, tricking it into thinking they are not being called for. I got it, great!

Ill being doing this mod this weekend, thanks Crom!

Ok I know this is off topic but I would like to have ALL lights, turn, brake, dash, headlight etc. on a single kill switch. True stealth mode. Does anyone know if this is possible or if somebody has done this.

No I'm not running from the law and not trying to jack the thread but the title seemed like a good place to start.

I've been working on this. Just cut out floor boards last week. Now I can push the truck with no lights or the sound of the beastly V6..........I started a thread about doing blackout mod and got :locked: so probably best not to talk about it:gossip:

If I add this switch like you show. Will that turn off all of my lights including rear lights. I am wanting to be able to flip a switch and turn off all lights but still have my turn and break lights work. If not is there an easy way to do that to a 2001 Tacoma? Thanks!

This mod is for second gen Tacoma's. I can offer you no advice, as I've never worked on a first gen and know nothing specific about them. Sorry.

If you actually wire a switch just like the OP posted, the DRL module is above the gas petal. Just remove the kick panel and cut the white with a thin green line wire (hot wire), I didn't do this but I shut off my DRL because I have HIDs
