Day 20 of mechanical break down of my 2016 Tacoma......Florence Toyota called and said my truck was completed last night. They did a five mile test drive with no issues. An oil leak was discovered on the bell housing....it was repaired and test drove again for ten miles. They returned to the dealer and yet another oil leak was discovered above the repair.

Lemon Law. Precisely what it was designed for in the new vehicle market.

20 days? I am surprised they didn't just give you a different one and keep that as a loaner vehicle for the lot.

from what I remember, you cant invoke lemon law unless they cannot fix an issue after a few attempts on a new vehicle.

In CA he could Lemon Law that thing in no time flat. In a place like AZ he'd have a tougher process to get through. Regardless, I'd hope Toyota would step up and give him a different / better truck.

not sure about everyone else but texas law states 'reasonable amount of attempts' which varies according to how it affects the safety of the driver.

I think if a reasonable new buyer/owner approached a reasonable Dealership Honcho, they could have a reasonable discussion about satisfactory expectations for this brand new vehicle. Seems like cooler heads would prevail and the dealer as well as Toyota Corporate would want to take care of the customer in an extenuating case such as this one, where such a myriad of alarming issues are popping up on what should be a BRAND NEW truck. So yeah, I'd have that conversation with the most senior Dealership management and ask them what they would want if they were in your (the buyers) shoes.

I don't know where you are located, but there is a Florence Toyota here in Kentucky. If that's the spot, here is the skinny on Kentucky Lemon Laws:

    New car lemon law
In Kentucky, manufacturers are required to repurchase an automobile if it is determined to be a "lemon." You can file a suit in a circuit court but you must first go through the manufacturer's arbitration system. To qualify as a lemon:

    • The automobile must have been purchased new in Kentucky by a Kentucky resident and not have more than two (2) axles and cannot be a motorcycle, motor home, conversion van, or farm equipment. New automobiles leased after July 15, 1998 are also covered.
    • The consumer must report the failure to repair the non-conformity to the manufacturer within the first 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever is first.
    • The problem must substantially impair the use, value, or safety of the automobile.
    • The automobile has been out of service for the same problem for a cumulative total of 30 days or more or the problem was not corrected within a reasonable number of attempts. Four (4) attempts to repair the same problems is presumed to be reasonable.

if Toyota wont give you a new vehicle when you frame rusts out and giving you a new frame, you think they will give them a new truck when they can fix it?

the more expensive/bigger the item is, the less likely it will be completely replace with a new item for a minor issue, and that applies to pretty much anything.

I spent nearly $400,000 on Toyotas over the past 15 years. I've made one warranty claim during this time. That one claim was there was stitching unraveling from the driver seat in my 2002 Toyota Tundra.

That really sucks man, if nothing else they should cover your vehicle monthly payment (on top of fixing it) considering how long they have had it.

Definitely go to the highest manager you can, and be respectful.

The truck had 500 miles on it. I spoke with one of the sales managers he said "I gave you a great deal and that's all I can do my hands are washed".

Things must be quiet over on coloradofans.com tonight. Better not let them find out you are creeping the pages TW or they will unleash the hate on you brother. Thought you bought a new Canyon.

Well look on the bright side, your are not the only one with those new heads. It looks like every person tha tbought 2016 will have engine leaking oil. 2gr engines are known for that. So either get some discount card on oil or get different truck... Those leaky heads are probably made in China..
