Mine is incredibly quiet. Of course, I moved over from a 15 y/o Jeep TJ so I feel like I'm in a luxury sedan! I've had others in the truck comment on how quiet it is though. Sounds like your truck has an issue. I'd bet that the rear vents are stuck open.

I get a kick out of all of these "wind noise" & "loud cab" threads....it's a freakin' truck not a Cadillac.

Sig45, I'd agree with you if Toyota didn't advertise the heck out of the quiet cab in the 2016. It's everywhere. If they're going to advertise it, they need to deliver it. I'm not complaining mind you. Mine is exceptionally quiet - for a truck.

Here are some pics of MY solution... The vents fit very loose and sloppy (not now)...!! This solution has made a real difference, but so far I have not removed the masking tape from the vents....I'm gonna drive her this way for a while and get used to the sound and then remove the tape.....If any noise returns, I think it's by-by to some of these 8 vents.... Seems like I don't need them there now anyway..!

This is the left side vent...note 4 flaps..!!
    DSCN0968.jpg

    Prepped for spraying.... DSCN0969.jpg

Done...!! Note.. because the vents are a very loose fit....I sprayed liberally all around them to seal them in place. I think that was a main area of noise entry..

    DSCN0971.jpg

I'll update after I get to drive her some.... Here is the product I used.... 1 can covered it fine...

JD, that is truly going above and beyond for some noise reduction. Let us know how big of a difference it is. If it works, I'd be curious to try this on the door panels as well.

Wow, nice work! How much effort was it to remove everything to get to the bare metal and vents? And does it go back together as easily as it comes off?

No problem removing the hard plastic "bins"..(2 pieces)...3 small bolts each side. Then just pull at the left rear corner top and start to "pop" the plastic push pins that hold it to the metal rear wall. I think 3 or 4 on each side... don't be afraid... they will pop out and where that piece attaches to the right side part.. just pull and its out... same for right side... Then just a thin piece of crap 1/8" thick "sound deadening" (yeah right???) material that is held in by a few push plastic pins....

You might break 1 or 2 of the shitty plastic red colored push pins on the hard plastic "bins"...(I did) when removing, but who cares... they are crap anyway, and not made for removal, just installation... My plan is when I decide to button everything back up... the plastic pins are gone and a good dab of silicone in those locations will be way better than OEM..

Hope this helps... I've driven it a bit since the spray job.... It just snowed some here tonite..-2deg C.. I found out that I will need some ventilation to remove the moisture buildup from the interior windows and I'm planning on opening up about 1/2 of them and try that.

The wifey even said..."you did a good job"... "I can notice about a 40-50% reduction in road noise... and that's with the rear seats still folded and nothing put back into place..

I think I'll be happy as soon as I figure out how much ventilation is required.... I'm experimenting...!!

I noticed the wind noise from the backseat on a 20 mile test drive (radio off of course), 2016 TRDOR DCSB 4x4 auto, 3 VIN, no tonneau, factory bedmat. Good job fixing it up, over60.

No howling or whining sound, but a definite wind sound like the slider was cracked open a bit.

I got my first tacoma (16' double cab trd sport) and right away I noticed how bad the noise is when I'm driving. It is irritating the shit out of me as if I'm driving with my window open. Im gonna have to get mine checked. Can you tell me after you test drive another 16 tacoma?

I think you'll find they are all the same...that's just the way they are built. You will have to do something like I did or figure out another way.... Concentrate on those loose fitting vents on the rear of the cab....If you sir in back seat while on hwy. and drop 1 seat back...you'll figure it right away.

Last night I could hear my tunes way better at Hwy. speed and at a lower volume level...!

My 16 is silent aside from inclement wind and weather noise. The 13 wasn't any where near as pleasant to drive but, had typical " truck " type noises. I have to say I'm very pleased with the new 16. 1140 miles at present. Sorry to hear some of you are having these issues though.:itllbuffout:
