Improvise and find a small 1/4" socket that fits snug. Then throw an extension on there and turn.

Worked even better than the spanner, for me.

I'm guilty of the flathead + hammer method on my Lexus' coil overs. Lost the spanner again

Gouged the fuck out of one of them but they started moving

 

It gets the job done, but usually end up with bruised fingers and fucked up adjustment rings lol

 

Thanks Jeff! Wheels were off the ground- of course... still couldn't get it cranked enough with the short- handled POS folding spanner wrench. Some 14" 650 lbs. springs are in my near future.

 

Sounds good! Maybe try Kelvin's approach with a 1/4" socket? That might actually work really well lol

 

I need to move them about 10-15 more rotations. There would be nothing left after that!

 

Don't want to f-up the black anodized finish. They're just too pretty for that right now.

I've got one and also got the T handle type that I got with my Kings. The T handle IMO works much better then the spanner. I'm in Walnut Creek so If your socket trick doesn't work let me know.

I have the spanner wrenches from Toytec. I'm in Dublin and will be going to American Canyon this afternoon.

 

I don't believe he Toytec ones will work. Also for my Fox's I use a long 3/8" socket extension and it works well enough. Gouges the holes a bit but got the job done.

You could check with @JLee and see if his brother in law has a wrench for his Fox's. Worth a shot before potentially marring new coilovers.

 

i have a 1988 Buick Park Avenue coming in for a detail. Im stoked on it, its nothing special but its all original and MINT condition.

 

So I just bought this amazing toy for myself...so bad I couldn't pass it up. Might use it for my next white elephant party.

Tried the 5/16 pin punch. Fit perfectly. Bent it.



Then the 3/16" socket. Fit perfectly too. Bent the socket, not the extension.



Tried two sockets and extensions. Bent them both.



The collar bolt was fully backed- out. I screwed it back in a bit to make sure it didn't spread and jump threads.

Shit like this is why my wife never believes my time estimates. "It'll only take an hour..."

 

That's ALot of fuckin preload, adding more? Or less? Squirt wd40 on the threads, and have the wieght off the wheels too
