I am looking for some information on a backrack for a 2009 tacoma.
I know the part number to be 10317. How does it look? How does it install? Do I have to drill holes in my truck? Do I have to take off the side rails? Any information would be helpfull.

it was very easy to mount. no holes drilled. the bolts hook into the slide rail. it seems pretty solid. had a hard time getting info on a backrack for a tacoma. nobody has them on there truck. i did find one guy on toyotanation who helped me. a backrack in not cheep. cost around 500.00 and you can get one at canadian tire or napa. i find it looks good and protects the back window when you are hauling something in the back, like a atv

This is great. I've been looking for info regarding a backrack for my tacoma. I even went to a dealer mentioned on the backrack website, they told me they weren't making them for tacos because of the plastic bed.

Can you go over the install a little more? Did you have to pop any of the plastic off the bed rails?

it is pretty straight forward, very easy to do. had to pop off the plastic at the end of the slide rail if that is what you are talking about. the nuts for the bolts slide right into the rail. tighten up , but not to much and ta da you are done

By the end of the side rails do you mean the back piece that is up against the rear window or actual pieces of the side? Did you have to cut them or would they be able to be popped back in should you want to remove the backrack.

Sorry to be a pest about this, I'm just pumped someone actual is using one.

I get the impression that you did the install yourself, is that correct? My brother installed his own on his F150 so I at least have someone near by to lend a hand.

it is actual pieces of the side. they just pop off and you can put them back on if you take the back rack off. the pieces are just the ends of the rail system. the install is very easy and nothing to worry about. it is so simple to do. fits like a glove, no cutting, no drilling. the only tool you need is a wrench. don't worry about it and go and just buy it.

I ordered mine directly from Back Rack. It's very easy to install. I think it was about $300- $350 or so shipped to my door. I didn't attach pics because mine looks exactly like the one above.

You can make your own backrack or get creative for lights with this material.

A good electrical supply house will carry the stuff.
