Winch Installation

    Alright guys I have been looking all over the interwebs for a video on how to install a hidden winch and mount to my 2015 Tacoma. I have seen a lot of great pics but I need to know how to do this installation and not spend a stupid amount of money to have it done. Does anyone have a video on this? I want to avoid cutting my bumper or drilling holes. The pic below is what I want as a finished product.

    The vendor of the winch mount will (or should) supply that info. I used the US Offroad winch mount (2nd gen).

    Forgive me if I sound ignorant. Though I am mechanically inclined I have never installed a winch mount before. Will I have to move anything like the radiator? Also, I like your set up. I was hoping to have the winch come out of the area shown in the pic on my post.

    I have a 2014 second gen. My winch mount is not a Hidden Hitch. So; I did not have to move anything, it did take some layout planning. The 10K winch was a tight fit. 10K is over kill for a Tacoma. You can theoretically get by with a 6K winch. The wiring does need planning. A winch can pull 450 Amps at startup. I added a Blue Seas switch and fuse block for the winch and LED lights. The people with super chargers had special considerations. I don't remember what I don't have a SC so didn't pay much attention to that thread, maybe intercoolers.

    No video but I went with the US Offroad bumper also. Pretty easy install, there are instructions on their site. The one you're showing probably involves some welding.

    the picture you posted is a 05-11 model and the bumper design is slightly different, the 2012-2015's have a removeable (clipped on) lower bumper section, that is what is replaced with the winch mount, which blends in similar to the factory plastic but is plate steel and has the tow points.

    EricU Thanks for that information. I am going to have to see how my bull bar sits to see if it would interfere with the winch mount bumper. I do like the idea of having some more steel up front.

Sold the truck. Bought 2016 ram 2500 Laramie diesel. (7/2016) Picked up 97 Tacoma 4x4 Extended Cab 3.4L. Building motor now. (8/2017)
    Let's start a group buy petition. I think there's gotta be a good amount of guys that want this type for the 2012+ Tacoma. I was going to buy one, but figure why not try group buy discount.

    There's currently a group buy for 05-11 tacomas.

    but not one for the 2012+. That one ended earlier, but I think there's enough people to start another one.

Sold the truck. Bought 2016 ram 2500 Laramie diesel. (7/2016) Picked up 97 Tacoma 4x4 Extended Cab 3.4L. Building motor now. (8/2017)
    I did and US off-road vendor said he wasn't planning a group by because they were flying off the shelves at their regular price. But maybe we can convince them to still do a GB if there's enough people that want them. @usoffroad

    I hope he didn't actually use that as a reason. It's not about doing it when your business is slow and you want to get rid of inventory it's about showing support to a group of folks who are passionate about your products and thus support you. If all the other vendors thought the way he did there would be no group buys. His attitude makes me kinda want to look elsewhere even though his option is the best in my opinion.
