How do the Stock Dunlops do in snow?

I bought my first Tacoma this Fall and have the Dunlop Grandtrek AT's that come stock. Are they any good in the snow or should I get new tires before the New England winter comes rolling in?

 

They suck

I concur. They are awful.

 

Either you have recommendations of a good all-season tire?

 

I found out they are mediocre at best in moderately wet conditions.

BFG KO2s will be installed soon before winter hits.

The Dunlops are about as good as 4 almost bald tires do.

I would recommend the Goodyear All Terrain Adventures.

 

Agreed they are no good in snow don't see alot of it NC. I had been thinking about changing the tire and after our first winter with my older taco I changed them out. I went with Cooper AT3 alot better tread but not to agressive even got better gas mileage with them too but that just my opinion.

Cooper A/TW - All terrain tire that performs awesome in winter and has the snowflake symbol.

Michelin LTX MS2 is an amazing all season tire (performs better than any in wet/dry conditions IMO) that grips well on ice compared to other all season tires.

 

Surely the Toyota purchasing agent for tires is overwhelmed with free sex, booze and drugs from Dunlop. The Dunlops on my truck scared me so bad I replaced them at 1300 miles.

We may argue about what tires to replace them with, but we all agree I think, REPLACE the Dunlops.

 

They are nick named Dungflops for a reason.

 

I sold all 5 of mine to a local tire shop for 75 bucks a piece with around 1000 km on them. Putting in the time to wear them out is not worth it IMO. Why settle for shitty performance for the first couple/few years of your trucks life??

 

I live in CT and ran the stock Dunlops all the last winter, I wasn't going to climb any snow covered mountain passes but they did just fine everywhere else.

 

That's the thing - I'm a climbing guide so getting into unplowed lots and arbitrary roads is necessary.

 

OHHHHH.... You should definitely swap the Dunlops out then.

 

Cooper Discoverer A/T3 and A/TW, Cooper ST Maxx are all great. Michelin LTX MS2 are great too, but sooooo pricey.

 

I would go with the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac's or the Kelly Safari TSR's in that case.

 

I'm thinking about buying these but according to Ebay they din't fit my truck, despite the size being the same as my Dunlops (with the exception of them being 265 rather than 245). Anyone able to shine some light on this? Is it just Ebay's tool being shitty?
