you will drive into a set of desert whoops and not know it. Maybe you are doing 85mph in the dark on a dirt road. the light bar above your head is going to make any dip look like the rest of the flat road. You will not see a shadow behind any drop off.

to your question, it will look like there is no downside

Would having multiple light sources instead of one huge bar be a good compromise?

yes, but if you get a real rigid 50 inch bar above your head, your high beams won't show up in the beams path. It will fill in any shadow that the truck's lights create.

this is why race trucks stuff LED packs everywhere possible on the hood and grill. These light sources are below the drivers head and will show as much shadow as possible. But they can handle running into a set of whoops when they are doing 80 because they have 2 to 3 feet of wheel travel. They need light so they don't hit shit

Anyone here plan on doing 80mph+ in the whoops with their Tacomas? :notsure:Let's jump to extreme situations to prove to everyone their doing it wrong.

By the way, why in the hell would someone ride MX with sunglasses instead of goggles? Also, I prefer gloves without battle plastic on the knuckles.

I knew I recognized this post style from somewhere....GuyB would be proud.

Go look at offroad dirt bike racers. They run a helmet light but it is never as powerful as their front light.

How did you recognize me? Sunglasses are the only way to go when riding a borrowed bike through non-public land. Gloves must have protection

What brand and size is that bar? Also, where did you get the decals for the grille?

Sometimes you can get a nasty glare off the hood if you don't have a deflector.

It's a 50" curved from senlips. I did the grille and letters myself. I got the mesh and letters from custom car grills. As state before you will get some glare off the hood but I haven't taken mine off-road yet to see how bothersome it is.

Thanks, the glare might be kinda annoying off the little curve where the hood meets windshield since it angles back towards the driver.

That looks great! So does that mean @RelentlessFab has mounts for sale for 3rd gen? Also how much added height does that give you? I only have 3 inches to spare from the top of the antenna. Otherwise my truck won't fit into the garage.:(

They're the same as the previous gen. Doesn't really add any height, it nearly sits perfectly on my windshield line. With the mounts being curved it say the mounts might stick up an inch or so. image.jpg

Just a heads up, I am planning on making Stealth and Flush style mounts for the 2016 in the next month. I need to get my hands on a truck for test fitting and design. If anyone is in ABQ.... I make them for 2nd Gen Tacoma's and 4th Gen 4runners. You guys are next. Will be priced the same as my others, $100 shipped. They will be powder coated black and will be made from 3/16" mild steel plate, laser cut for the best quality. If you are interested in getting on a waiting list, shoot me a PM. I will post pictures as soon as I get to make something!

This is the 2ng gen mount. Bolts into the factory bumper bolts. On 2nd gens there are 3 nuts on each side that come off. The mount slides into the studs that hold on the bumper, then the nuts go back on, very simple.
