Hmm the reason I ask is my company pays a .50 difference if you work nights doesn't matter the night it's always .50
We work 12 hr shifts 6pm-6am an it's alternating.
    Basically a 1-3-3
    1 on
    3 off
    3 on
    1 off
    3 on
    3 off
    1 on
    So on so forth

Personally I don't think the differential is enough for the style of life the schedule brings. I want to maybe write a letter or something to see about it being reviewed an I was curious to see what others were getting

The powers that be don't understand when you're work third shift and on your day off you have to maintain the hours. The alternative is to flip hours. Then when you come back you're unbelievably tired. Dangerous at best!
What I don't understand is I lose my differential when I take vacation. I earned the vacation hours working third shift shouldn't I be payed the same on my vacation days?
By all means write the letter. At least it may open a dialogue.

A little of this and a little of that.
Shift differential for 1500-2300 was .52/hr. From 2300-0700 was .58/hr.

The old time/attendance system paid us our shift diff. for vacations and schools/re-current training. The new system doesn't. It's BS. You shouldn't take a pay cut to go to school/re-current or take vacation.

Write the letter. As long as you keep it professional, you'll be OK. Good luck.

Not me. Back on the day shift for 2 weeks. Of course my day shift starts at 4 am, so I may be able to get in on the tail end of the grave shift shenanigans.
