What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Sorry bud I can't help you there. I'm new to the 3.4l. I'm a 2.7 prerunner still in the middle of a swap.

 

No worries, your picture helped a ton. Need to get that part back on, shouldn't be bad at all.

 

They couldn't get to the part that lowers the spare tire so they couldn't take the spare tire off to inspect the lift plate. I put my truck on a vehicle lift at my college auto shop and was able to reach above the spare tire with a extension and lower my spare tire to look at the carrier plate my truck doesn't have any rust on the carrier plate or anywhere else for that matter. That's all they want to do is inspect the whole carrier plate top & bottom. With the tire on they can't see the top of the carrier plate only the bottom of it.

Not sure what types and brands of stereo you are tryin' to install but like most stereos are pretty much of plug and play all the wires are color match you connect wires with the same colors in most cases. Mine is a double din so i have 1 pink wire that i connected it to the stereo chasis to bypass the e-brake just so the dvd can play while the vehicle is in motions.

 

Wife paid for a new mod - she was pretty adamant about it.

She was really insistent that the sprocket be level for the widget - it even has a level built in. She did mention that we won't be able to "do a real test drive" until the end of January, maybe she wants to test something in deep snow?

 

I don't think that's the case here. They did inspect it and told me I qualify for the recall. Though it's possible they only looked at the bottom and saw it was rusted to shit and said okay. Even so, while I haven't yet lowered the spare, I took a quick look at it last night and it looks as though the hitch doesn't block it. I could be mistaken. Maybe I'll get a picture in here later.

Looking for confirmation from the masses. I regeared from 4.10 to 4.88, auto transmission, and have 285/75/16 tires. Need to change speedo gear. Stock speedo gear is 30 tooth. Wondering if I need to go 32 tooth gear or 33 tooth gear. It's been suggested that I go 32 tooth gear for a 6% correction versus the 33 tooth gear that'll give me a 10% correction.

Anybody gone through the same thing as me? Any thoughts?

 

I tried them all. You need a 33 tooth with 4.88 and 33" tires. Speedometer will still be off by about 3 mph.

 

You're an auto, right, Brett? Or does it not matter?

 

It doesn't matter because the speed sensor/speedometer takes it's reading off the final drive, or the transfer case output. transmission type doesn't matter.

It just so I don't hit a speed cut in 5th going 80. Maybe a digital solution is best for me. I have one on my sport bike. I have to look into the speed sensor first

I just scheduled mine to be replaced next Tuesday and have them check the frame since its already been coated.
