so I was driving on the freeway the other night with heavy wind coming towards me and I noticed a weird sound coming from the truck when the wind hit it.

I recorded some of it to see if anyone else has experienced this.
    Here's my YouTube upload

My Gen 2 Taco has the same noise . I believe it's the wind buffeting off the mirror. It only happens while driving during high winds ( say 20 mph wind ) and it only comes from the side that is exposed to the cross wind. Next time it happens I'm going to try folding in the mirror on the side it's coming from and see what happens. I believe if it was the tires or a mechanical problem it would make the noise all the time, but it only happens on windy days driving over 60 mph.

Oh okay, yeah just wanted to double check with the Tacoma community.
I had just taken my air dam off I was thinking maybe the wind was going through the truck in a weird way causing the whistle sound

I bought my Tacoma in January of this year, and I experience wind noise on the coast all too often. It is so damn annoying. Video linked below:

Yes, this is one of the all too common issues due to poor seal design or manufacturing on the 2016's.

Call corporate and make sure to file a claim.

Edit: Dang, didn't realize this thread had come back from the dead.

Driving 75 on a windy day also had my side mirrors vibrating/howling. Is there a fix?

It must be really windy. Looks like the truck is in 4th gear at 75. And a really shitty tank gas milage.

During a really bad storm with 30-45mph winds I was hearing that noise.

There is usually a decent amount of road noise though. It's weird, because 3rd gen is supposedly quieter than the 2nd.

It's the weather stripping on the doors. Usually only happens in cross winds. Take an air compressor and blow it into the seal on top of the door and it will replicate. Heard Toyota was working on a tsb but not news when

My 2013 does the exact same thing, same noise. If I drove more on open highways at high speed + crosswinds it would annoy me enough to try and fix it, but I don't really. Only comes up during roadtrips generally.

There was a TSB for the 2nd gen referencing a similar issue. I had my 05 "fixed." The solution was replacing the windshield and then using epoxy on the seal.
