Does anyone know how to reset the "Average MPG" display? I can't reset mine. According to the user manual (page 94-95) if you press and hold the center button it should reset the setting...

It resets automatically after you fill your gas tank. it does not do a lifetime average it does a tank average.

I never let mine get below 3/4 tank (Except when the time of year comes for them to change to winter/summer blend gas) So mine will reset when a gas pump nozzle is put in the tank?

That action resets trip MPG I believe, not tank average MPG.
Edit: You're correct. Center button should reset "average." "Tank Average" and "Trip Average" are automated. Note also this has no relation to the trip odo.

    Im having the same issue..
Truck Automatically resets the Average MPG when I fill the tank.
Sub menu tracks MPG for a "trip" for every time you start truck, drive then turn off truck" Then it resets for the next time you drive the truck.

Im looking to be able to reset manually on the fly, as in im already on the freeway and want to track my economy for a set time on the freeway. It appears the only way to reset it is to fill up the tank, or turn off the truck.

Wife has a 16' 4Runner and hers resets by holding down her middle button as described in the owners manual.

a reset of one of the trip computers can be done on the fly which would change the mpg display between the instruments

No. I keep it full so when I win the lottery I don't have to stop for gas until I'm far enough away from people with a sad story. And all the long lost relatives.

Just make sure you're on Trip A or Trip B when pushing the button

You can change your dispay preferences under the settings option.

For display 1 i have speed and average mpg
Display 2 i have tank average mpg, and instant average
Display 3 i have distance til empty and i forget what else at the moment.

These are all customizable . On the average mpg, just press and hold the center button, then it asks if you want to reset average, you toggle down and press center button.

This does not work for me.... Nothing happens when I press and hold the center button... Are you sure about this? This is why I started this thread.

When you say "Center button", which one specifically are you pressing? Refer to page 90 in the manual for the correct one.

There are several average MPGs, and they differ completely based on the model of Taco you have. For me (TRD Offroad w/ premium tech package), I have 3:

    1) Trip average MPG: resets every time the truck is turned off
    2) Tank average MPG: resets every time I fill up (only if I go below a certain amount I think)
    3) "Average" MPG in the Eco app (the one that's displayed on the default Entune home screen): resets when you either clear your entire history in the app or mark a new duration.

For (3), not only do you have a current trip duration but a history of average MPGs for previous trips.

For other Taco models, some of the things others have suggested are correct (e.g., pressing the middle button), but I do not think this does anything for the higher end models (the button really is just for tuning the brightness).

    Hope this helps,
    B.

Yes, I just had the same issue and found this thread in a search. (I know it's a old thread.) After performing a factory reset, I thought what the hell, I can't reset my average fuel economy. And yes you can NOT reset your " tank average fuel economy" . But you can reset your " average fuel economy" . You can see this on page 94 , the "2" button is available for average fuel economy and not available for the tank average fuel economy.
So there you go Fshams , it took awhile to get an answer, but you probably figured this out already.
    Regardless, it may help someone.

Thank you for this information!! This has literally bugged the crap out of me that I couldn't change the fuel economy on this screen. I changed the "average tank fuel economy" to "average fuel economy" on the screen and it worked!! I looked in the manual several times and didn't see these options.
