Last I heard was it should be "in port" on 11/4, still hasn't got here. I stopped at another dealer and they had the exact build two weeks ago:confused:

I got real lucky, Texted a dealer on 10/31, the truck I wanted was in Benicia, they said they didnt know how the truck wasnt sold yet. So it was supposed to be delivered 11/1 to my door. Ended up not getting here til 11/4. I must have hit it just right. My DMV plates came last Friday.

I recommend you do more investigation in addition to the Web build site, especially visiting your local dealer. I have found the build site to be misleading, confusing, and even flat wrong. Gotta dig. Good luck.

Can someone explain how the entire process works, just to be sure the Dealer is moving in the right direction?

Ordered the Taco 2 weeks ago ($5,000 deposit) and followed up via email to the dealer last week. The email back from the dealer stated:

Yes, we have submitted the order to Toyota, and requested a change on some other existing Allocated orders. We are waiting to see which they pick up.

So I assume the order hasn't been 'accepted' by Toyota yet? Should I be worried at this point?

Any insight from the collective wisdom here is appreciated!

So here's my understanding of how the process works. Toyota is going to build what they are going to build each cycle (X number of whatever various combination of packages etc). Twice a month dealers can request a specific allocation and Toyota will divvy up what they are going to build based on those requests. If dealers in a region are collectively requesting 20 7545s but they are only building 10 that cycle, 10 of those allocation requests will go unfilled and have to resubmit next cycle. Once allocations are assigned color and some options can be changed up until a couple weeks out from build date, so asking for a blue DCLB TRD OR has the same chance of being allocated as the same truck in silver. Lastly, it's also possible for dealers to swap allocations prior to delivery but with a hot commodity like a harder to come by package in a just released vehicle might be harder to get in trade because every dealer has (or thinks they have) potential buyers for those special snowflakes.

    5k deposit? Yikes.

Nothing to worry about yet. Except for that deposit.

The large deposit was to get the dealer's attention and get the ball rolling... I was hoping that 'money talks'.

And I have no worries about the deposit.

Four weeks from order to delivery ( They found a truck exactly as I wanted going to another dealer and snagged it, marked it sold. That was before the dealers suddenly stopped trading popular versions of the Tacoma.

Ordered 9/25, build date 12/2, so I'm told. With a manual tranny. According to my dealer, a rare build.

Gave up on my order. Dealer got a BR SR5 DC 4WD V6 for a customer that changed his mind. Picked it up today. He gave me the same deal as my AC order. Putting on wheels and tires next week.

Ordered 10/15...passed up another incoming Quicksand DCSBOR 6MT because the dealer told me they could order it with JBL...not their fault, the build sheet from Toyota turned out to be a misprint...no JBL possible for 7545, apparently. Current build date is 12/7, so I've been told end of December, beginning of January for delivery date.
