As an update: went back to the dealership and they let me try my phone in 2 different TRD Sports; they both behaved the same. Employee had a S6 Edge and it worked perfectly. Guess the QI just isn't meant for certain phones; wonder what the difference is between the differnt phone's internal wireless tech?

the tech for this is on the inside of the back cover of your phone. i'm not sure what yours looks like or how good it works with other wireless plates. I have a lumia 830 and I didn't have these problems on two test drives and I was paying attention to it. also I don't need to fiddle with the phone too much when setting it down on a wireless pad at home.

The wireless charger at home actually works very well with the case on and with a minor level of fiddle. My "best" results in the truck have been achieved by taking the case off and placing the phone in the lower right corner of the charging pad with the top of the phone facing towards the passenger's side. Too much work for a "convenience"; the rapid charge cable will do just fine!!)

I think you need a to try a different S6. Mine works perfectly using Qi. I had to return a NOTE 5 though as it would not charge at all on any charging mat.

EDIT: Sold the S6 and bought the LG V10. Missed the large screen too much. It works fine in the truck QI and otherwise

note 5 here, works perfectly. Cons: charges slowly & phone is hot after 30 minutes of charging

Great; took a $39,000 truck to determine my phone's not right in the head! :(

How does the Note 4 charge on it? Do you also have a protective case on the phone?

Just took delivery of my 16 Trd off-road and I have a iPhone 6 Plus in lifeproof nud case with iqi wireless receiver. No dice no matter where you place the phone. Toyota is probably using a single coil charger that has to be aligned perfectly with the receiver. So sad! I guess I'll have to use my qi infinity vent mount charging cradle plugged in the 12v socket. Any thoughts besides getting a tiny phone with qi?

Did you take the case off and see if that works? My note 4 only works without protective case.

The case is so thin on the back, and it charges just fine on a double coil qi infinity charging cradle. I'm thinking of modifying the charging mat if Toyota is not willing to fix the problem.

It makes a great Sunglasses tray !!!! I think its crap that you have to buy something extra like a wireless reciever for the iphone to get it to work.
I think I may just use a cable.. and throw spare change in there.

Turns out that the lifeproof case is just large enough to prevent the coils from lining up. If you remove the case from the iPhone, it will charge just fine. A quarter inch difference in the coil placement would allow it to charge with the case on.

I have a Samsung Galaxy s5 w/ an after market adapter. I've discovered if I put the phone on the pad with the phone's button on the driver's side, it won't charge. So yes, there is some nuance to positioning the Qi receiver over the Qi pad.

I have a 2017 Limited, I have a Motorola Droid Turbo 2 with a Holster kick stand case from Verizon. I use a TYLT wireless charger every night with this phone and it works fine my partner also has the same phone and case configuration and same manufactures home charging stand. In the Tacoma it does not work on the Qi charging pad. The other day the dealer gave me a loaded 2017 Prius as a loaner while he was working on the truck. In the Prius we decided to try our phones on its Qi charging pad. Interesting enough we found the both phones in the case backs still on worked fine. Called the Texas support to open a case they also said if it worked in one 2017 Toyota it should work in another. They gave me a case number but told me I would not be able to login and monitor the case, that I would need the dealership to open a problem with there system. Then my dealer had me spend a little time talking with their top guy on the electronics. He said that I should give them all my phone information model software revisions etc. But he basically said the folk in Texas are not technical and really do not have access to people who are. Basically he implied that Toyota probably knows that the implementation of Qi charging in the 3rd gen. Tacoma's is not very good and that not a thing will happen. Where has the QC at Toyota USA gone, All Prius are built in Japan, Michigan did the engineering on the Tacoma and it looks like all they were interested in was that they had feature to check off like the rest of the product line and they could claim that they had. That it really does not work they just don't care. Toyota Japan needs to send somebody to Michigan and teach them what QC is all about.

I have a Droid Turbo as well, with a Incipio case that has softer plastic inside and harder plastic shell on the outside. In my friends 2016 Chevy truck and Suburban it charges perfectly.
In my Tacoma, it is hit or miss to get the orange light to come on indicating charging, with the Incipio case installed. If it does trigger charging, the phone is hot. A few times I have seen the green light on indicating full charge.
If I take the case off, it charges as expected.

I have tried it with the case back off and it gets hot and gives me an amber light but does not behave the way it should, extremely slow charge if any, and i have had on the pad for a half hour. On the TYLT charger pad and on the pad in the Prius the behavior was as follows When the phone recognizes it is on a wireless charger It displays a screen the has a lightning bolt and tells you it is charging. It does not recognize Qi pad in the Tacoma the system seems to be to weak.

Mine works great and my phone doesn't move at all even when cornering hard. There is no chirp either.

Currently have s7 edge and mine works well with case. My old note 4 worked fine with a battery adapter. Got a bit hot, but worked well.
