Since I installed my Viper alarm, there are a few people that just love to set off the alarm, either from their exhaust or sound system. I am sure it's intentional because they rev their engine up right in front of my house.

I have already lowered my sensitivity three times. I still want the impact sensor to set off the alarm if someone is trying to break in, but not go off when cars with loud exhaust drive by.

Do other people have this problem with their alarms? What do you do?

If you have anything valuable in the truck remove it. They may be doing it on purpose to get you to not arm it one night so your truck can be broken into.

    Very good point.

OP, could you possibly park your truck closer to your house to where it's further away from your prick neighbors?

Luckily i don't leave valuables in the truck, i bring everything inside.
And i am parked right at the house, my driveway is only 3 carlengths long (if thats an appropriate unit of measure). Its still close enough set it off. :/

The ironic part of this is that my truck is the second vehicle I have with an alarm. The other car's alarm doesn't set off with exhaust or loud systems. The Viper's shock sensor is within the alarm brain, not a separate module. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. :notsure:

Simple fix... Let it go off for several hours next time, especially if it happens at night or early in the morning. Two can play at that game.

Lol@ this one. Perhaps having ear plugs will be beneficial. But alternatively move, out of town. Of course easier said than done. But sure was a important goal of mine when I moved to Tulsa, Okla recently. Found a little country home outta town, cheaper, really nice neighbors, and much much quieter. But to OP hope your situation gets better soon.

Park it as close to their house and when they set it off put in earplugs. Also set it off a few time a night at very early times. Then ask them each day f they know who is trying to get ino your truck.

if you don't leave anything valuable in the truck what do you need an alarm system for.

That's one way to do it. Our trucks have immobilizer's. A lot of guys can disable an aftermarket alarm system a lot easier then an oem one.

Maybe he wants remote start to a/c his truck down in Georgia, but couldn't you just shut the alarm off.

The "factory alarm" doesn't go off if someone breaks into the truck, it only prevents them from hotwiring it and driving off. I wanted the alarm for the shock sensor, door open trigger, and hood/tailgate trigger. Besides, if I am out and about, I may have to leave some valuables in the truck.

As entertaining as this would be, I haven't made enough friends with the local police force to get away with such shenanigans.

It looks like my best option is to just bypass the shock sensor "zone" while I am at home. I've lowered the sensitivity one more time, so I'll see how that works first.

So they won't break anything that's installed in your truck. Such as the radio, or destroying your switches. You can't trust no one besides your family and best friends.

agreed. Theres nothing in my truck that i'd particularly miss. My city is too much of a s***hole now to leave anything in vehicles.

Not much you can do. Your neighbor isn't really doing anything wrong per say.

All you can really do is speak to them. Otherwise, just move

Well, as much as I would like to find a more secluded house, it's just not budget friendly at the moment. I suppose I will keep playing with the sensitivity setting. Downside to an aftermarket alarm I suppose. Thanks guys! :)
