I've only done one slight test, but it seemed the locker does work. Tires are are one of the first things I need. The PO had the tires set to ~42 PSI, so the wear is heavy in the middle, especially on the rears. I've about decided on Grabber AT2s. Might get a set for the rear this week, and hopefully next month get the fronts. If not, the the month after.

As for wheeling, are there any places around here in north Jersey? I'd only be interested in real beginner level stuff for now, since I've never gone before.

 

The pines in south jersey is a good place to start and learn, and a day at rausch creek in PA on greens will teach you a ton real quick. I don't know a lot in North Jersey, only stokes and it's not really wheeling from what I heard. I know there is illegal wheeling in north jersey but don't know any of the spots and from what I heard it's not beginner friendly.

 

The Pines and Rausch Creek are the only 2 places I've heard that are decent around here. I'll likely end up checking them out at one point. To start, I will probably just find some some fields or other super nooby offroad "trails" to get a feel for driving not on tarmac.

 

Your set then just use the spanner wrench and adjust the driverside shock up a little to compensate for the lean

Is that going to help in the rear where most of the lean is? I actually don't see any lean in the front, all lean is in the back.

 

It should. Most people run a trim spacer in the front to help with lean. And also unless you somehow bent your frame the whole driver side of the truck is leaning not just the back corner.

 

Also about your locker as long as the light turns on and stays solid it will be locked.

 

Oh then it definitely works. Not surprised. I've yet to find a feature on my truck that doesn't work.

 

I don't have the tools or any experience welding but would love to get some sliders on the truck. Would anyone be interested in getting involved in this project and showing me some welding basics?

Alternatively, anyone recommend a shop where I could take them to be welded?

I live in NYC but work in Newark and am around North Jersey a bunch.

Curious on getting sum input on a 3" lift kit and I'm on a budget does any one recommend a certain kit. Any input would be appreciated

The Toytec Ultimate is a good starters choice, adjustable coilovers, Bilstein 5100's, diff drop, sway drop, angle shims. Reasonably priced. I would suggest SPC/LR UCAs and a carrier bearing drop kit.

 

Thanks for the help. Is the 5100s a stiff ride. I don't want anything that's gonna rattle my jaw off.

 

Not really, that usually comes from running a load range E tire on a vehicle that is a little over 5000 lbs stock. Very stiff sidewalls are tough to compensate for unless you feel like dumping $4-6k into a suspension.
