Canadians take knowing more than Americans very seriously. It is the only thing that differentiates them from us.

Good luck op. I get the feeling that it's probably totaled. The engine is what stopped the tree. Brackets and engine are probably both toast.

Honestly it could be a few days. And there's also the additional items that the body shop can add onto the estimate as well. This is common because the initial estimate given by an appraiser won't find every single item that's needed for a repair.

Depending on your insurance policy, the cost of repair might equal 80% of the vehicle's value and they'll consider it a total. Or you can have a policy where the repair cost can be 98% and they won't total.

I don't think it will be totaled because of the value of the truck... I'll go with $10500 to repair(unless there is frame damage)

Hey guys I talked to the insurance guy he is estimating it at $9,938 could be more with stuff he couldn't see. I plan to have it repaired at the same company I bought it from. they have a good body shop and I'll ask about a warranty

That's not too outrageous. Like you said who knows what they will find once they work on it.

Generally in my experience anytime stuff is fixed through insurance it carries a lifetime warranty.

Hey guess here is an update. I talked to the body shop guy he told me they have to replace the dash, and have found a lot of things that need fixed. He said I may have it back by mid January. My insurance for the rental will run out on Friday. The body shop is going to give me a car to use so I don't have to pay for a rental.
