new front end rear end drivetrain engine interior all around features but ya its virtually the same truck... but doesnt that mean that all vehicles are just updates and never a new gen by that logic

If I were new to the truck game then I would probably buy the 2016.

But after seeing the 2016 a lot of 2nd gen guys are frustrated because after 10 years thats all toyota had to offer....

So the manual doesn't have/ need the ect button, doesn't need to be turned on to access power?

Not so much frustrated - I personally am not in the market for a new one, now or in the near future.

If you are in the market.. you could certainly do worse, by buying any other manufacturer's offering, than a Toyota.

There is not really a whole lot revolutionary about this new Tacoma though .. Substance is left heavily overshadowed by marketing hype in the lead up to it's Great Reveal .. it's more of an evolutionary change - which is ok. If it works, don't fix it..

I'll be back for a new one, by the time the 4th gen rolls around.. hopefully Toyota will have given it some braces in the meanwhile, to get a handle on that massive over-bite...

In the interim, someone's gotta keep the economy rolling!

The internet is telling me so many things I don't know who to believe anymore. :notsure:

New, old, updated, not updated. These are questions left to individual interpretation and opinion which will be a never ending battle. I enjoy my new truck that Toyota officially recognizes as the next gen and that's all that matters to me. If random dude next to me calls it a 2.5 gen or doesn't think it qualifies as updated or new, I could care less. I'm over the 2nd gen vs. 3rd gen battles.

I will say I'm glad many of the parts are shared from the 2nd gen though as it makes the aftermarket accessibility much better.

Only stupid people do this. I never owned GM vehicle but can recognize that 600 mile range pickup capable of doing 31 MPG is absolutely crazy good idea. So kudos to GM even if I never buy their product. On the other hand I own Tacoma and can't believe after 20 years I can not get frame that is correctly painted. WTF Toyota. No paint on frame and new Tacoma has the same frame and Land Rover of Toyota Engines, famous Exxon Valdeeze 2GR. :annoyed:

...So lets make the engine smaller with more hp and torque but lets make the MOFO have to rev that shit up so the MPG goes out the door. But if you drive it like my dead grandmother fucks, you should be able to squeeeeeze 19MPG out of it. :broccoli:

    1. A mother....ing unpainted frame that rusts worse than mother...ing Titanic at the bottom of Atlantic(and some pictures of Titanic look better)?
    2. A mother...ing drum brakes that in winter make ABS go Britney Spears on Ice?

    3. A mother..ing more payload so you don't hit bump stops with spare tire and a sandwich.?
    4. A mother...ing front differential with more than 2 pinions so it does not sound like lonely cougar with menopause running around the town to get laid.
    5. A mother..ing 4wd with soldered connections instead of just touching each other. WTF is that a Blue Oyster bar. Solder that Shitz.
    6. A mother..ing Drivetrain so does not vibrate randomly like a bed in cheap motel for hookers.

..we can keep going but list is long. None of those thing were addressed, new things were added like 2GR engine who leaks oil just like Land Rovers. (Google 2GR oil problems for night long reading), or the stupid front...

That marketing angle just about blew my mind.. of all the up and coming auto-tech to trumpet, it had to be a massively marked up bird dawg industries camera/mirror mount, with a 'new truck' built around it.

I always find this double standard amusing from 2nd gen owners.

"WE WANTED A RADICALLY NEW TRUCK"
"2ND GEN IS SUCH A GREAT TRUCK"

If your 10 year old truck is so great, why did you want a brand new 100% complete remake? hint: the answer is you didn't, you just want to bitch on internet forums to make yourself feel better. #2ndgenownerlogic

Bottom line is Toyota made large improvements/updates on a 10 year old vehicle while keeping what makes the Tacoma so great in tact. Its a very well done next gen in my opinion.

Someone get the peanut butter to go with the 2nd gen jelly

    Later bros enjoy the thread
