DAEAS - Dealer added equipment and services

Looking over my window sticker on the Dealer added equipment and services section I got the wheel locks 99.00, oval tube step 699.00, window tint 399.00 (lifetime warranty) and the desert protection package which includes:
1. Door edge guards
2. Door handle protection
3. Century paint protection- initial application
4. Century interior protection- initial application
5. Nitrogen filled tires
499.00

They apparently put this package on all of the Tacomas they get.

Curious to know in other parts of the country what your dealer added equipment and services are? High mountain protection package? Florida swampland protection package? Urban ghetto protection package? And what does it consist of?

 

Nitrogen filled tires? Normal outside air is already like 70% nitrogen. $500 for nitrogen in your tires sounds like a shitty deal lol.

There's a Chevy dealer near where I grew up that everyone complained did that. Haven't experienced that kind of issue personally. But I would refuse to pay for any of that. Or at least tell them to remove it all.

 

I ordered mine early without any port or dealer additions,,,...and I was happy to see they did tint the vehicle and ad all the dealer pack such as Nitrogen,1 year key replacement,1 year ding protection, tint pinstripping (removed)essentially a $1295 addendum sticker w/ a Mop and Glo package I did not pay for.

 

They tried pulling that same move on me. I told them that wasn't going to fly with me. They then tried telling me it was already installed, so I told them I would gladly wait for their removal. In the end they threw all that stuff in for free. I feel like I deserve some chicken wings for standing my ground.

I knew being a jerk would come in handy one day.

 

Another reason to build rather than buy off the lot, looks like you can avoid this added dealer nonsense, I don't mind the oval tube steps or the window tint, but everything else I could have lived without, they say you don't have to wax your truck with that treatment on it, time will tell.

Buffalo. Where is your go-to spot? I usually visit Long Wongs in Phoenix.

 

I waxed my truck and will do so every season. I don't believe in their Opticoats and crap I Scotch Guarded my seats. I did not pay a cent over $500 over Invoice. Nor did they charge me for the additions someone put on the truck. I AM happy they tinted the windows though (Hence my $100 tip to the sales guy and his manager) I removed the Pinstripes though,

 

Yup well I got soaked for the Nitrogen as well. For $500, I was expecting a Victoria Secrets model to fill them up for me. This is mandatory at the dealership I was at ... the Nitrogen ... not the models.

 

I didn't get any extras from the dealership or port on mine. I guess our port and dealership doesn't do any mandatory "options." I'm pleased

 

I found mine on the lot, and the dealership I bought from (Beaverton Toyota in Oregon), they include nitrogen filled tires, clear door edge guards, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty, plus they bought my whole family lunch while waiting for the deal to finalize.

I paid for the $99 all weather floor mats myself.

regular air is 78% nitrogen

and nitrogen filled tires is really only effective when you have really big tires like on commercial airplanes when the tires heat up extremely fast on landings or "maybe" race cars.
