my biggest disappointment is that they aren't building enough DBLB

your complaints mean nothing without a good supply

Give it another six months. I'm sure there will be plenty of everything by then. Typically the first 1/4 of a new model is flooded with the most popular model builds from precious years. At least that's how VW did it.

I believe, and I have heard from a few dealers, that toyota can only make so many dclb trucks in total because they have to meet their brand total mpg and the trucks EPA mpg rating.

    Idk

I was actually ready to pick up a 2015 in August but when I saw that the 2016 was coming out I just waited. To me, it's a huge difference and i know I would feel sick seeing other '16's on the road while driving around in my '15. Cannot go wrong with either.

LOL...when I bought my 16 I drove 130 miles to the dealership knowing I was gonna drive a TRD home having never test driven one. The only question was what color was I gonna bring home and will it be a sport or an offroad. I am a VERY satisfied customer....never looked back.

Especially since a lot of the underpinnings is largely unchanged :anonymous:
And I will admit that I do like some things of the new model like the lights and refinements, but can't get over the front grille and bumper. Also to me the body is a little busy. Too many visual features packed into a smallish body. That's all :)

You considered this a gun fight?

My post was a tad ridiculous wasn't it? Pretty much like OPs post no? Tad sardonic I know. I made my point.

I love my truck, I loved my 2006 when I had it. I have absolutely nothing against a 2nd Gen truck, if they hadn't re-designed the 2016 I would have bought a Tacoma anyways, needed a truck and the Tacoma fits my needs exactly. The 2016 is ideal for what I use a truck for, more so than the 2nd Gen trucks!

Call me a fan boy if you will, I really don't care cause I'm completely happy with this truck!

I traded my 2014 for a 2016 for a few reasons. First being that I could get damn near what I paid for my truck in a trade in after putting 23k miles on it. Paid around 29 for it got 28 for it. Second, after owning my Tacoma for over a year I realized that more often than not, I need the 6 foot bed. So like many of you I decided to wait for the 2016 to see what is had to offer. I am consistently getting 2mpg or so more than my 2nd gen, while its not much it's still an improvement. although they kept the frame points the same, the body and frame are now sporting high strength steel including stronger steel supports for the cabin. The tech features are a huge upgrade. Personally I love having the moonroof, projector headlights, heated seats and dual zone Ac. Now when my gf rides with me I don't ever have to worry about one of us not being comfortable. The new engine/transmission is smoother, and while you have to give it some gas to really get up and go, it's not terribly different than the 2nd gen. If I really wanted to get up and go that thing revved high too. So many little nice to have features as well. So is this truck new? Well new engine, transmission, frame, headlights, tail lights, cab (similar but slightly different), interior, tech features, wheels, suspension, axle, sound deadening, bumper, tailgate, bed etc. to me all my truck is missing is a power rear window.

No, you are correct. It's an update. They tried for more mileage from the drive trains with limited success. Some say the reduced torque from the new V6 not worth the slight gain in MPG. Same wheezy 4cyl in use after 20 yrs. with worse mileage. Rear drum brakes etc.

The trucks they sent to Motor Trend had electrical and transmission problems, (also reported here) so some say, '16 is a step back.

The huge expense of replacing the rusty frames on previous generations may have had an impact on the budget for the '16.

Precisely! So happy to be back in a Toyota.

Timing was just perfect for me to jump into the 2016, I didn't wait for them to add lipstick and buy as soon as they did. My other truck was written off and I didn't want another fullsize.

I'm probably exactly who they have designed this version for, which is why I'm so happy with it!

My 2 cents..... Why fix it if not broken? I guess some were expecting an unrecognizable truck. Yes, it needed some major updates and got them. Yes it did leave out some that people believe it needed. Just two would be power seats and more headroom. They addressed many issues as well. Looking forward to getting mine (mid Dec.)
