I'd take a leaf pack on the porch or behind a planter. Hell, at this point throw it in the front yard.

I'm now in possession of 1 of my 2 Dakar leaf packs. I also now know that the truck drives kinda squirrely with the front up 3" and the rear on the stock sag springs.

Hopefully they manage to do 1 thing right tomorrow morning, and that's to not do anything at all with my leaf pack so I can go pick it up.

Having previously owned a delivery company I'll shed some light based on what I saw in the 10 years I was in the biz. FedEx ground(green and blue) own their routes. They are basically independent contractors who purchased from FedEx but FedEx corp. still has the ability to pull routes if there are too many complaints. FedEx express (red and blue) are all owned by FedEx and driven by minimally paid hourly wage drivers. Most are so overworked they couldn't give 2 shits about where your package is placed on the door. Also, if it comes missing from FedEx express the company files the claim. Drivers aren't held liable. The opposite for FedEx ground. Since they own the route, they also own the liability. Typically speaking FedEx ground takes more care in their deliveries because of this.

USPS is a different breed depending on the region. Around here most the drivers are independent contractors and generally do a great job with deliveries. However having owned a delivery business and seeing first hand what they get paid for those routes, and the expenses that come with it, I wouldn't touch that business with a 100 foot pole. I can sit at home watching TV for free.

Having said all that, a job is still a job and they owe it to their customers to do it right, no matter what they paid. Trust me, I've had days where I wish I had a giant slingshot that would just launch packages into people's yards. Haha. It can be a frustrating experience, especially this time of year. But I always though about how excited I was when I received a package and felt it was my duty to make sure people got their shit on time and in good shape.

I will also say this about USPS. When they sort freight (basically anything not a magazine or envelope) there is typically one person scanning boxes from a pallet. Those boxes get "placed" into these big ass orange bins. There are sometimes 20 different bins all lined up in rows with numbers on them. Farthest one away is sometimes 20+ feet from the sorter. Do you think they actually walk over to that bin? Hell know. It gets thrown through the air and into the bin. I've been in 20+ post offices and every one is the same. They just don't give a shit. There's a reason the term "go postal" exists.

I totally understand that everyone wants their stuff and they want it "right now" and drivers can only do so much in a day. They told me that 2/4 of my packages were FedEx Ground (works M-F) and the leaf springs were another FedEx Ground (works Tu-Sat). I had to find out on my own that it was FedEx Ground vs FedEx Home Delivery. Before that I was like "so...FedEx Ground works Tu-F?"

What I don't understand is how the folks sitting at desks in the offices of these facilities can't do something simple like "Hey, have _____ pull package ______ off that truck, or make sure it doesn't get loaded. The recipient is coming to get it."

I also had a talk with a FedEx employee who told me it's normal for multi package shipments to be separated. That problem is easily solved...don't call it a multi package shipment. Call it 4 shipments. Nobody expects 4 shipments to stay together.

After more run-around...I'm going to attempt to go get my own package again tomorrow morning. Hope they can do nothing with it until I get there. My ridiculous meter is broken now.

I feel your frustration but it's really not that simple. If they can catch it coming off the semi maybe. Once it's on the truck there's no way to take it off. Packages are loaded on order of last delivery first to fist delivery last. Typically speaking the packages loaded first are so buried with other shit it's impossible to get to them until the driver gets to that particular delivery.

Now the driver who attempted your delivery still has that pkg on his now empty truck. If he doesn't leave it at the DC for you to pick up its either piss poor communication or he's just a dick. He gets paid PER DELIVERY ATTEMPT PLUS FREIGHT CHARGES. So he could just be trying to squeeze the extra cash from multiple attempts.

Either way I hope you get your stuff. Let us know how it works out.

I eventually want these on my truck. Can't quite decide on color though. I originally wanted the graphite ones, but it's hard to say no to black wheels on a white truck.

Yea, I know there's tons of stuff that I don't know about the shipping business. They're supposed to pull it off the truck first thing tomorrow morning when he gets back to the facility and leave it there. We'll see what happens. Luckily my fiancee is home tomorrow, so I'm gonna call them first thing and remind them and also insist they leave it with her in case he tries to deliver it again while I'm at the facility.

Thank you I was a little skeptical at first about a black topper but now that its on there I like the look better than color match.
