This is mostly due to Greg derailing us. We still manage to get together and do some wheeling though, despite his best efforts.

Gavin and I had a great time. Well, I had a great time. I don't presume to speak for him. Did about 100 miles of high speed gravel and some off road / abandoned roads in the Danville area. 5 hours, including a lunch stop at Peggy Sue's Restaurant. Perfect way to waste half a day.

I'm totally in love with the 4Runner. I should have bought this years ago instead of fucking around with substitutes. I drove this route like a fucking madman, sliding around corners and bouncing over rocks and logs all while listening to Pandora radio, using my Etune nav, and sipping a latte. The spacer lift was just fine and I am even more confident in my choice to do it instead of a full suspension lift.

    The report:

Gavin got lost coming up and wound up damn near in Wooster, went like 60 miles out of his way and we didn't meet until 10:59. While I was waiting for the hour it took him to unass himself, I was snapping random pictures and was thinking that his name should be "Garmin", not "Gavin". It's ironic, see?

TR 75 with abandoned RR bridge (non motorized vehicle trail runs on top of it between Danville and Glenmont)

Near Flat Run Rd, private property but the farmer lets anyone use it provided they stay out of the fields

This is a legit open road. Stone Quarry Rd. This creek is a tributary to the Mohican River.

Stone Quarry Rd. This is a highly technical road. I debated not doing it but Gavin shamed me into it. I got to use my E-locker a few times and let me tell you, that is the cat's ass. 4WD with no locker = billy goat. 4WD with locker = billy goat with a stick shoved up it's asshole. It just fucking goes!

Random attempt at art at an oil well

    Bats Nest Rd

Random hill climb - Gavin couldn't make it up. I didn't even fucking try.

Power line trail. I love shit like this. You look down the trail and it's like "so many possibilities for adventure lie ahead!"

This doesn't look super hairy, but Gavin slid off the trail after catching a downed tree at an off angle. I was riding with him. Little scary for a minute thinking we were going to either go over, or get stuck.

Descending a long hill climb - looks like nothing in the picture but it was steep as shit

River crossing on the _____________ river :)

I don't care who you are, even Ivan Stewart would have an adrenaline dump after fording a fucking river from, as Gavin put it, from the "feeling of stupid welling up in your stomach". Gavin seems pretty chill about it.

    Lunch at Peggy Sue's... and a 2nd gen 4Runner

    "Fuck you!" "No, fuck you!"

I'm very interested in doing this, doesn't look too hard, which is important because I'm new to off roading

There were a few places I think could be problematic if you are super new and have an aversion to tearing shit up. Gavin is a wild man and just don't care. I parked my truck for some of that stuff.

On rocks n obstacles and inclines n crap I'll beast mode. When it comes to dirt/gravel/dust roads... Mark is the wild man. I could make excuses all day for why I wasn't keeping up with him, my shock is broken so my traction is bad, he knows the roads and where potholes are I don't, ground clearance, etc. Honestly, he just trophy-trucks like a madman and I didn't have the balls to stay on his bumper.

My gravel road driving skills are honed by driving a CVPI with Goodyear Eagle RSA tires at 95 mph on curvy gravel roads chasing down hilligan mcgilligans who think if they make it back to paw's cabin the law can't touch them. Kind of a Duke's of Hazard situation over here but I ain't no Enos and I have yet to wad up a cruiser. Ge-ge-ge-gee!

    Also, traction control.

    Mostly traction control.
