I currently have OEM 811 coils with 5100 shocks that gives me 2" of lift. Still running stock size tires (265/70/16). Once my old tires need replacing, I'll be getting 265/75/16 KM2's and put a 3" toytec coil over. Would this give me the same angle on my cv's and other front suspension components as my current set up right now?

P.S. Sorry for confusing you but I read somewhere that if you go to 3" of lift it will damage something on the front (I can't remember).

3" is about max. I have about 2" of lift with a diff drop. CV axles look pretty safe

Just throw a dif drop kit in with the lift and you should be fine.

I don't want to do that though. I heard bad reviews of putting a diff drop, especially if your off the pavement.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
I run King's coilovers and Wheeler's 5 leaf with no diff drop and my CV's are fine. I think diff drop is worst on Gen 2 and up.

If u go a full 3" your cv boot fins will likely rub and if you have ADD they are always spinning against eachother. If you go that route i would recommend the diff drop aswell. Its not like it lowers it so far down you're dragging it over obstacles. The diff is still protected so no worries there. The only real gripe peeps have with the diff drop is that it dosent improve the cv angles enough. The 1 inch drop will gain you no more than about .5" on your cv angles. So if your fins are barely touching the diff drop will correct that and your boots will kast far far longer than without! Some people have even reported having slight vibrations corrected after a lift install using a diff drop...

So dont be afraid to utilize it, the worst thing that could happen is it dosent correct your angles enough, theres really no ill effects caused by a diff drop. Being on or off pavement makes absolutely no difference what so ever.

On one of my trucks i have a kit installed and it corrected my boot fins from touching/rubbing on eachother. ..

I have no problems at all with my diff drop. Plenty of clearance. Smooth and vibe free.

My angle isn't bad as of right now. I'm getting 32s then I'm getting another inch on the front to make it level. Would I still have to get a diff drop even though I'm raising my front and rear axle up another inch?

Edit: I was reading about this.

I will get newer UCA's but that going to be another 3-5 years before I make the purchase.

Diff drops are bad on 2nd gens. It rotates the diff rather than dropping it. On 1st gens it helps. 1in diff drop will only drop the front of the diff so it's about 1/2in lower. I don't have a diff drop. I just did the boot slide mod. Boot fins aren't rubbing.

I'm still confused on the boot slide mod.

Lot of the time when lifting the truck your inner boot on the CVs rub and causes it to rip. With a boot slide mod you slide the inner clamp of the inner CV boot back a bit which moves the fins further away from each other so they don't rip.

Now I get it. I will have to do this soon, and hopefully removing the Cv isn't going to be hard.

Well if your just gunna do the boot slide mod then its pry not necessary. Unless youre worried about the actual joints inside the cv's being at an extreme angle and wanna help correct that??

If I remember right it's not at an extreme angle, The Cv's look fine in the position they're in now without killing the too much. Is it a absolute must that I need to replace the UCA when I get another 1" to the front?

Thw whole uca or not question is hottley debated. Its prolly not totaly absolutely a have to do must. But will it be much easier to get a good alignment?, will your upper ball joints last longer?, will your suspension have more travel? Absolutely! If you're going a true full 3 inches it would be better to have them than not. If the fuckers werent so damn much for what they physically are(which isnt much) it wouldnt be such a big deal getting them and it wouldnt be such a hot topic as to get them or not! Ive always thkught the price was ridiculous! If they werent so spendy id get a set without thought, first thing on every taco i ever got...

I agree that's why I didn't get a aftermarket UCA. I don't know why it cost so much but it's something I will get in the future. I love suspension travel when I'm off the pavement. But next year I'm saving up for a 7th injector once I get my bills payed off. But like I said in the next 3-5 years maybe longer I will get a total chaos UCA.

Another big debate is not to or to remove your sway bar. Supposedly you get more travel off road and you can leave it off while on the street too. I have my aftermarket UCA's & quite a few people on TW say to remove your sway bar and that it makes a night and day difference and you won't want to put it back on once you've taken it off but it's been at least six months since I've first heard about people taking them off and I still can't bring myself to do it. All my Tacoma buddies say leave it on. I can't decide! TW is a great place & I've learned so much but this mod is out of my realm.

I took my sway bar off of my built rig and im one that absolutely LOVES IT!!! But i also have stiffer coils than factory. If you have sloppy weak coils maybe its not such a good idea,,idk? With your stiffer coils on those 5100's sicyota04 id venture to bet you wouldnt look back either!! I ended up with a lil body roll but noting more than any other full size truck would have, nothing id consder dangerous! That sway bar makes it ride so "flat" and rigid it dosent feel like a truck but more like a car i guess... and the offroad feel and performance increases tremendously!! No more bloody kidneys and your dash dosent feel like its going to rip itself apart on rough roads...

    Sicyota04[QUOTED] likes this.
