well that could be true. 20 weeks made me rethink the whole ordering game. I have never heard of a wait that long, even for my most rare 7568

Sure, makes sense. I'm not sure what their sales volume is like but the dealer is actually a decent size in a big "auto park" with all the other dealers. I was actually surprised when I drove up there because I was expecting a small lot. They aren't Longo or Toyota of Orange but I personally wouldn't call them a "small" dealership.

Here's how I got there: Adding up your options, I get $33,475 for invoice without TDA based on the sticky thread values.

    Sport, dc, sb 28502
    Tech with JBL 2701
    Tonneau 579
    Tow 579
    D rings 35
    Exhaust tip 60
    Floor mats, sills 119
    Delivery 900

The sheet you just posted shows $33,505, probably because the floor mat prices are different. Close enough for now.

Your own thread on the subject (below) quotes invoice at $34,069. That's an extra $564 using your sheet above, or $594 based on my numbers using the sticky thread. So about $600, we can say closer to ~$550 with better numbers. That's where your TDA is hiding. I have seen that done in both detailed offers I have reviewed.

    Double Cab, Short Bed
    TRD Sport
    Magnetic Gray
    Tonneau Cover
    Tow Package
    Premium Tech Package w/JBL
    D-Rings (didn't really want)
    Exhaust tip (didn't want)
Floor mats and door sill protectors (wanted to buy my own cheaper)

    MSRP: $36,354
    Less discount: (1,458)
    Plus doc fee: 80
Plus dealer trade fee: 250 (he wanted 500, I said no deal and we agreed on 250 for them to have somebody drive it from Chula Vista to Corona, roughly 100 miles)
    Total before TTL: $35,226

    Invoice: 34,069
    MSRP: 36,354
    My price: 35,226

Cross check based on your post:

So roughly $1,110 above invoice and $1,100 below MSRP

$34,069 + $1,110 = $35,179. You did say "roughly" so we'll call that about the $35,226 that you paid, which includes roughly $5xx in TDA fee.

I should point out that I didn't go though all of this to prove the TDA thing. Back when you posted on the deal, I put your values in the spreadsheet I use to compare deals as a reality check. So I'm just regurgitating what I already had figured out. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for posting this info because otherwise I was working without a real-world reference.

Also, I could have completely missed something. Feel free to recalibrate me if I messed up.

of course not. The residual buy price is more than you would have paid if you had taken out a loan after you pay the lease each month

OIC never bought a new car before and though lease to buy would keep my monthly payments low.

has anyone dealt with any Ventura County dealers? Ventura Toyota offered me a AC TRD OR for 41k otd. Oxnard won't budge off MSRP. Simi Valley is just terrible. i'm currently in talks with Thousand Oaks Toyota, they've put in an order that's yet to be received and Barcelona Red AC TRD ORs with tech and tow are apparently hard to come by.

they are going to give you the same price everyone else will lease it for at your mileage. If you pay 5000 dollars to lease it over some time period, they will sell it to you for maybe 3000 less than msrp. They will make more money than if you bought it outright

Nice you were able to get one that is allocated. I hope you got a good deal. That short delivery time is worth something and being F-ing done with shopping is worth a lot.

So my wife is getting tired of hearing about the potential truck and calling so many dealers just to find bullshit from them trying to get us to enter their property. She was on the phone on her prep period today and decided to chat with the internet department at Toyota of the Desert, in Cathedral City. She's had some wild hair thoughts about this place for the last month and kept saying, "Maybe they have trucks int he desert. Maybe they'll have them out there." I wrote it off as she just thinking of where she grew up too much. She started chatting with them while on her phone call and the internet dept offered 500 under msrp. They said we may have better luck if we come in to speak with them in person.

My wife and I work across the street from each other so she called and asked if I wanted to go out there tonight. We left school at 3:20 and arrived there around 6:15. Traffic goes that way and it was 100 mile drive. We got there and I the internet department dealt with us. I have never had the internet department act as sales people before. Usually they are just there to get you in the door and then hand you off to a sales person. We dealt with the internet sales lady and her manager. I thought this was strange. They offered us 500 under msrp, we countered about a 1000 under/over because they pretty much match. They said we can only do 500 under and we won't charge you the TDA fee. I don't know if they usually do or don't, but I wasn't planning on paying them to advertise. My wife and I spoke, we talked to them about my trade in, which is a piece of shit that will sit on Craigslist for a few months and probably not sell for 1000 dollars. They will give us 500 to 700. We didn't drive it there so they will assess when we get there.

So, to rationalize our purchase, my wife starts talking about the difference between this and the Merced or Sunnyvale deal. We would have saved 700-800 dollars. We would have to driver her car up there so both names are on the paperwork, get a room for the night, food, other crap, and drive the truck home. We estimated that would cost us around 400 bucks to make it worth our time. Then there is the prospect of not getting a truck for 6 months. My wife really wants this truck shit done with but she put up a good fight in the dealership.

We agreed to a final vehicle price of 35,689 for
7568 DCLB OR V6 4x4 (very rare build in this region)
    Super White
    Tow Package
    Carpet Floor Mats
    Exhaust Tip

They used a similar truck to get a final OTD price, it was DCSB 4x4 OR they had on the lot
    370 registration and title
    9 govt fee
    80 document fee
    3212 LA County Tax

    39358 OTD
    less 500 deposit
    less 500-600 trade in value
so about 38400 to drive off the lot.

We have more than half of this saved and the rest is being funded by Schools First Credit Union at 1.42% for 60 months. A few weeks ago, they gave me a 60 day authorization which will probably run out before the truck arrives. I will go back to get new credit authorization a few days before it comes in. They also do cheap refinancing work, as well. We got our car interest rate taken down a point to 1.6%.

It's a shit load of money but it's only 700-800 more than we would pay to wait, wait, wait, and more wait. They actually have this vehicle allocated to them. It was exactly what I wanted except for the stupid exhaust tip....

I have to thank @HalfWayThere for his continued support when trying to get me a deal in Sunnyvale. He actually made them feel so bad that they offered me his sweet deal. I am thankful for the chats we had about who was doing what, where, and to who.

I still have no idea why my wife called Toyota of the Desert. They just happened to have the one we wanted not already sold. They also had a 7568 with the same specs on hold for someone in Silver. I find it crazy that they were allocated 2 of the most rare build. There are only 15 7568-non-FP coming into this region each month. How many of those are white?

Toyota of the Desert in Cathedral City will do MSRP if you walk onto the lot and will do 500 under MSRP if you email their internet department. They told me to tell you guys.

We had some real shit-holes try and dupe us around the area. One got us in the dealership only to have me tell them that the truck they were trying to sell me was already sold at the other dealership they planned to trade with. But then they offered to sell me the Sport model on the roof for the same price of 8000 over msrp. That was the worst but not the only dupe dupe
